So after driving GM trucks for 15 years and never having a problem with D60's I swapped a set in a truck that was driving fine with the other D60 and now I have a scarry Death wobble, I am on stock tires, stock springs, the only thing I did is not rehook the sway bar, but I am sure the axle was abused before I got it.
I was getting the wobble even at 25 mph.
Is the wobble always from the king pin area?

No, not always, but it's probably coming from worn kingpin springs/bushings. They are super easy to change and cheap, that's the best place to start.

I heard of some better ones than stock, does ORD carry any?

The sway bar does help if there is any lateral movement in the front springs, but it's a bandaid like many other fixes. The super KP bushings and pre-load arms instead of spring load arms is the best solution in my mind.

A track bar is a good idea too if you have soft front springs.

That said, are the "pre-load" arms and the bronze bushings going to solve the DW problem?
I'm very worried about laying out all this coin, only to have DW with brand new equipment.

And a second question, what is the pre-load torque on these arms?
I have a line on a pair for super cheap, almost a steal.

when you use the preload arms, the preload amount is basically just enough to prevent death wobble.

If you get death wobble and you have preload arms, you see if you can figure out which side it started on adjust that side down just a bit and see if it cures it. Keep adjusting till you have just enough preload on both sides to prevent death wobble.

this track bar you talked about in your post last month, im looking for just that. can you recommend a brand or website i can locate a kit from? thanx.

im still battling dw on my 60 even with hydro-assist. it came out of nowhere. ive already replaced the bushing and springs and it didnt do anything. im going to try TRE's next and if that doesnt fix it then i guess im gona go for the kingpin rebuild kits

If that still dosnt work, i would suggest a trac bar and/or cross tied shackles.

Well on mine I found a few culprits:
Driver side disc is grooved, so I will be putting new discs and brake pads, also the drag link is not tight, so new ball joints there, and hopefully it should be good.
I already put the washers on the spring and it helped but did not eliminate the DW, hopefully the repairs mentionned will.

cool, keep us posted with what solves it. DW is a b!tch, and no 1 solution will always work for everybody unfortunately ugh

Yeah, its definately more than one culpret from what I have learned whether it be "bandaids", or quick fixes. you have worn tires, worn kingpins, springs and bushings. you have unbalanced tires, larger tires than stock. the lists continues.

Check you ubolts to your leaf springs and snug them up if they need it. That and the fender washer in the king pin cap solved it for me (poor man's pre-load).
