D60 front and rear/5.13\'s and locked!!! FOR $500!!!

I talked to a friend of mine...
He said...a local kid had some MINT axles for sale.

I called the kid up...and asked some questions like:
Are you sure they are 60's??
Is the front king pin style????
Open or closed knuckle??? etc...

He said...he has had a couple of 60's and knew what he had!!!!

Well...I made arangements with him to look at these axles...
ALL seemed good.
After driving an hour to his location...he wasn't even there!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif
So his boss took me out back of the shop...and showed me the axles...
It was a d44/d60 combo !!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

Needless to say...I got the HELL outta there!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

I hate to talk to experts...that know nothing at ALL!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

if the D60 is a 35 spline version, that is not bad for some axles set up with 5.13's.

Of course since he "knew" what he had what are the odds that they even had 5.13s?

I'll bet it was an early design Dana 44 front with the external locking hubs. Many folks confuse those with a Dana 60 since the hubs look so big. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif The best question that I know to ask is "How many bolts are holding the steering arm in place?" If the answer is "3", keep looking. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif GM Dana 60 fronts will have 4 bolts, in a rectangular pattern, holding the steering arm in place.

I checked the rear...to see if it was locked...
It was open...so I didn't waste any time checking gears!!!
