ORD said they wont sell just the studs, you have to buy the whole u-bolt kit which I have no use for:mad:
Ill try NWF and see what they say.

NWF= Negative, he didnt even know they had studs for them, he just kept saying there 5/8" bolts:mad:

Any other ideas??

What about some of the axle mfg's like Dynatrac, Rockcrusher, Currie, etc?

If you know the size, tpi, length, etc... ARP probably would be your best bet.

The studs I just got from ORD do not appear to be from ARP. Instead, they have a sybmol stamped into the ends, but I do not recognize it. I am at the point where I may not use my studs I just got. Haven't finalized the decision yet whether I want to use Zero rates or not. Unfortunately it appears that the studs only work with extremely thick spring packs or zero rates and regular spring packs. Not sure why they are set up this way...useless unless I go ZR's.

Why not just use bolts? I am not sure what the advantage is of the studs. Seems Gr. 8 bolts would be more than good enough. The stock bolts are only Gr. 5.

The bolt are my problem. I guess from them being removed and installed so many times one of the holes just stripped out on its own. So if I install a heli-coil I want to use studs so this doesnt happen again.

But I think I am just going to re-drill and tap the holes to 3/4" and run some course B7 3/4" all thread for the studs.

thats what i did. it fixed my problem.

Ok, resurrecting this thread to ask a question. The bolts I have in my D60 just keep popping out of the case. What size is the stock bolt that is supposed to be in there? Is it coarse or fine? The ones I have in there are coarse and I'm wondering if they have stripped or whether I put the wrong ones in?

5/8" coarse thread,

And for 85mudblazin, I have a hardware store by me that has every size imaginable when it comes to fasteners. Let me know exactly what you want. I can mail it out ASAP if you like... (sorry, i missed the thread before)

Both my friend an I are using Grade 5 studs, nuts & washers from a local nuts & bolts shop, him for years and me for months now, with no issues. I just brought in the stock bolt and told him I needed 2 studs & nuts with this TPI and diameter. It was <$5

The reason I (and most everyone I know) prefer studs over bolts is so that you can take the nuts off without threading in and out of the axle housing. This way you can take the spring on and off without risking damage to the axle housing threads..... you're just unthreading a nut from a stud.

I bought a superlift kit and did not use the studs.....if anyone is interested I could sell them.

I saw 2 broken grade 8 bolts on a d60 last weekend. Not sure what he did to break them. I still think it was from the pismo landing.

Turned out my problem was too small of bolts after all. Apparently they were 9/16's so I swapped in 5/8 bolts and it is just fine.
