The studs that came in the kit for my front D60 spring mounts are too long :doah:. Is there any reason that I can't just use bolts?

Whats to long about them? Why can't you cut them down with the nut on them and then unthread the nut to fix the threads? Or use a dye. Studs are stronger but I don't see why you couldn't use bolts.

There is an unthreaded shoulder between the threaded ends.

Mine 60 came with grade 8 bolts.

But it would be cheaper to cut the studs. Bolts that size are more than a value meal!

I believe that cut threads are weaker than pressed threads.
Would that make the cut threads the weak point of the stud?

Are you talking about the way threads are made? You can cut threads, roll threads, press threads, etc, but those all refer to the way they are manufactured.

Cutting part of the stud off won't affect it's strength.
