i searched, but didnt come up with exactly what im looking for. here goes: the bushing (urethane i believe) that goes around the outer stub shaft (fits inside the rubber seal) has a bevel on one side...which direction does this bevel face?

The bevel end faces the collar. It does not face outward.
If you look at the stub shaft, you will see the surface where the collar is, the little round bevel machined onto the shaft....this allows the plastic washer to sit flush on the stub and seat it properly. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
