Before I took my truck off the road to swap in a new engine, the driver's side of the front axle was making a wierd grinding noise, especially during turning. After a couple of weeks of checking wheel bearings and brakes, I couldn't diagnose the problem so I took it to a shop. The answer I got back was the hub housing on that side was bent out of round, and that allowed the wheel bearings to move around in the housing. Sound right to anyone?
Anyways, I know of a junkyard dodge ramcharger that i've already scavenged a couple of axle parts off of, so if that axle is a dana 44 and the same lug pattern, will the hub housing from it work on my chevy? I didn't know for sure if the parts were interchangeable from dodge to chevy, and I would rather get a used one than buy a new one for like $200. The budget is pretty tight at the moment.
Also, would it be a viable to pull the whole axle for parts/spares if the price was right?
