Before I took my truck off the road to swap in a new engine, the driver's side of the front axle was making a wierd grinding noise, especially during turning. After a couple of weeks of checking wheel bearings and brakes, I couldn't diagnose the problem so I took it to a shop. The answer I got back was the hub housing on that side was bent out of round, and that allowed the wheel bearings to move around in the housing. Sound right to anyone?

Anyways, I know of a junkyard dodge ramcharger that i've already scavenged a couple of axle parts off of, so if that axle is a dana 44 and the same lug pattern, will the hub housing from it work on my chevy? I didn't know for sure if the parts were interchangeable from dodge to chevy, and I would rather get a used one than buy a new one for like $200. The budget is pretty tight at the moment. :deal:

Also, would it be a viable to pull the whole axle for parts/spares if the price was right?

No the parts on that axle are not interchangeable with your chevy axle. It will be a 5 lug, and even the spindles will not be the same bolt pattern, they are 5lug if I'm not mistaken.
If you have a six lug axle it shouldn't be too bad to get the parts you need cheap, I know if you were closer I could sell you everythig you need for cheap.
I still could with a little bit of shipping cost if you don't find a good deal in TX

I'll keep checking around here, but if nothing comes up I'll take you up on that offer, and yeah my axles are 6 lug.

Where in Texas? I'm in the DFW metromess and have a 3.73 geared D44 I'd part with pretty cheap. Picked it up for a project and then went another direction. Let me know if your local and still looking.

I'm in Lufkin, and still need it. I'll have to figure out a time when I could make a run up there though.

Was that my axle?

I'll look into it, I was hoping to not spend so much time on the road there and back. But you can't have everything you wish for haha. you are right though, the price is right. It might be worth it to have him ship one hub to me, instead of me taking a day off work to go down there.
