I just converted to 1 tons under my k5. The front shock mounts on the axle wont work cause they were hacked off prior to the sale to me. Where can i get new shock mounts for the axle that allow me to use the factory location at the frame? I have single shocks per corner now. I also cut off the rear tabs to clean up the rear axle. Can i just weld the new mounts on top of the rear axle or do i have to match the location of the 1/2 tons? Thank you for your help!

I have in the past cut off the old axle shock mounts from the half ton stuff, open it up with a grinder and it fits dandy, ends up being a touch shorter but no big deal.

Couple of shock tabs should work too.

The rear is a bit more. You would end up with way short shocks if you put the top in the stock location and the bottom on top of the tubes.

Just as in the front I have cut off the half ton mounts and used them on the bigger axles.

That is the simplest way to do it

What is the best way to ensure no binding when i go to weld them on? My spring kit for the swap came with rear shock tabs and i want to make sure they will work correctly when re mounted. Thank you!
