Is there such a thing? Just curious what im looking for.theres a kingpin style fs but,can someone head me in the right direction? Whats the ~desirable~ 60 to have? Im a little lost with it.Thanks!

Wow thats loooong lol. Ill check it out. Is there a short version haha ?

So ,,,,,,,kingpin good , balljoint bad?

Basically yes. You don't want an '80 and newer Ford kingpin D60 either (if you were considering a driver's drop D60).

The Dodge D60's are less desirable than the GM ones because they use external hubs and as far as I know there isn't an off-the-shelf way to get 35 spline outers in them. Aside from that, the external hubs are notorious for coming loose and breaking. Other than that they are very similar to a GM D60.

The ideal D60 to swap into a 67-91 Chevy is a Chevy D60.

I guess I cld take pics and post them up if I go down to check em out.:doah: im settin on noob status lol. But I dnt care! Learning about all this is an avderture!

When you're dealing with a Chevy D60 the only difference that i'm aware of is neck down and non neck down axles. IIRC the non neck down axles stated in 1985 or 1986 and the only way to tell is to pull the axles and look.

90-93 dodge dana 60 have internal hubs.
You just have to be aware that some of them can be dana 61s (if the gears are numerically lower than 3.54)

The spring perches r a 1/2 narrower on a dodge. And the whole axle is a little narrower

dodge dana 60 untill 90-93 years used bolt on locking hubs.

and had a single tab for the shock to bolt on the axle tube.

as listed perch width narrower.

and dodge stock steering arm is lifted a little and drag link bolts in to it from the underside . gm was droped down a little and drag link bolted on threw the top.

and dodge dana 60 was 67.5" width wheel flange to flange.
with the gm dana 60 at a 69.5" width wheel flange to flange.

also tons of info here. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/60_front/index.html

The spring perches r a 1/2 narrower on a dodge. And the whole axle is a little narrower
so how narrow is the dodge and how narrow is the gm, 3" vs 2.5"? do you mean actual perch size or do you mean perch to pearch?

Perch to perch, u can cut the 1 perch off and relocate or ratchet strap ur springs together. From the knuckle out gm and dodge r compatible. The inner shafts is whats different.

it looks like on pirate the actual dodge perches are 2.5" and chevys are 3". is that right?

how can you tell the dodge d60 from the GM 60's if they are both pass side drop
For the pre 90 axles it's easy, cause of the big external hubs

I think Milemarkers Selectro is the only locking hubs available for them.

For the 90-93axles I don't know any obvious dead give aways.
But there are some small difference.
The shock mounts are in single sheer.
And the brake lines are connected to the center of the axle, like in a rear axle.

I finally got a reason to pic-whore my new Bilsteins :D

yes spring pads are 2.5 or 3" wide. but its the center pin hole to center pin hole spacing thats off 1/2 " or so. sorry for not to specific.

and from what i have read its only 1 of the inner axle shafts thats dodge specific. the other 3 will swap to gm.

good luck on your looking and grab a good one.
