So I got these from rock auto on wholesaler close out to try on the k30 and probably the suburban. Anyone used these c3500hd wrecker option calipers besides the woodchuck @sweetk30? I like the fact these have the potential to have even clamping pressure even though it’s really not a problem for me with oem calipers. YET. Truth be told I haven’t even looked at them since I installed em.
Seems like this is something we would like here on ck5. Not much floating on the internet about it really.
Any clearance work on the caliper brackets or anything necessary? They sure do look like a direct swap.

Same part# single piston for c/k30 AND c3500hd trucks . So swap on our axles should be just swap and watch hose length . On my c3500hd i had to swap hoses for length and bends . But they were for rear position on tow truck spec . But as these trucks use the same caliper front and rear guys have had good luck swapping on front also with longer hoses in our application. I am a few days away from road test all 4 calipers on a c3500hd truck .

I see the bleeder and hose hole, what are the 2 extra threaded holes for?

Pretty sure they will work. I kind of put them together to see if there were any problems and they appear to fit. There are just better options with the newer Dodge stuff. This would be a lot cheaper and easier though.

Yeah I’m not trying to machine hubs or nothin. Just put it on as it is and enjoy myself.

So bleeder VS port. I don't recall what a stock caliper looks like, but is this where a "longer line" is needed?

Flip them so the bleeder is on top and the line on bottom. Now you need a longer line? Or just bleed them disconnected and run the line on top?

Do they swap from side to side?
The Dodge stuff I'm sure is sweet but...

or money...

So what is the year range for these? Front and rear are the same for 3500HD, correct?

C3500hd same caliper front and rear and c/k30 square body front only .

Original use was last few years C3500hd on rear for tow truck spec / option trucks . And C3500hd was 2002 last year for them .

Awesome. My local Napa shows them and I was going to get new calipers anyways.

So there is a minor issue with the pad fitment. I got a pair of calipers from Napa, they look good and came with hardware too.

I've had this "new" set of K30 pads kicking around, for probably 15 years now. They are Wearever brand, the "Silver" line. The outside pad sits mostly fine, but for some reason doesn't sit perfectly flat on the caliper. The center area seems to bottom out first. But the inside pad doesn't sit well at all, which is the big issue.

Looking online at Napa's pads for a K30 and an '02 3500HD, the pads look similar in size, but they are indeed slightly different. I'm guessing that the 3500HD pads may be a better choice, with some possible grinding needed to fit a K30.

i can say 100% our c3500-hd inner pads are bigger . so cut of that wear indicator and retest fit .

With the wear indicator gone, the anti squeak pad would be too short, plus the retaining studs on the other end will need ground off. In short, no anti-squeak pad.

I'm not arguing that the HD pads aren't too big, but I think I'll get a set and cut/grind as needed. I also don't want to grind on the caliper to make the outer pad sit perfectly flat.
