Dana 60 dual piston caliper

K30 pads:

HD pads:

It looks like the biggest difference is the outer pad? The inside pad looks to be ideal for a K30 with these calipers? Maybe just needing a trim along the inside hub area in a band saw. Looking more closely, I can see where the outside pad may be a big issue.

With the wear indicator gone, the anti squeak pad would be too short, plus the retaining studs on the other end will need ground off. In short, no anti-squeak pad.

I'm not arguing that the HD pads aren't too big, but I think I'll get a set and cut/grind as needed. I also don't want to grind on the caliper to make the outer pad sit perfectly flat.
let me take pics of hd to 60 pads . . . and wear squeaker = useless in my book of 20+ years of bendix dana brakes.

Yeah, I don't care about the wear indicator. I just like pads that have the anti-squeak pad that insulates the pad frame from the caliper. I hate brake squeak and they do help.

The C3500 pads fit in the calipers they are designed for. How come they are "huge" on the K30 trucks? As long as they fit inside a 17" wheel :haha:

I believe the HD pads are taller than the C/K30 pads. Like, taller radially since the 3500HD likely uses a larger diameter rotor and the caliper has more distance from the hub.

I'd really like to see pictures though, so I don't have to buy a set of pads that possibly can't be trimmed down enough to use.

As requested . .

dana 60 top and c3500hd bottom . .

huge size difference i didn't even expect my self and i have both trucks .

Holy crap!!! It's crazy how the proportions make them look very similar in the online pictures... but dang! You weren't kidding when you said they were bigger.

On the plus side, with pads that much bigger, that's a good sign that the dual piston calipers are capable of offering significantly more clamping force.

But now I have more questions. I wonder what the master cylinder bore size is on those later 3500HD trucks. And how their pedal ratio compares to the squarebody trucks.

What was the late model master swap we used to do years ago that I did on my blazer. It’s one of them new disc disc masters with the plastic reservoir on it.

Update? What pads did you use?

So I got these from rock auto on wholesaler close out to try on the k30 and probably the suburban. Anyone used these c3500hd wrecker option calipers besides the woodchuck @sweetk30? I like the fact these have the potential to have even clamping pressure even though it’s really not a problem for me with oem calipers. YET. Truth be told I haven’t even looked at them since I installed em.
Seems like this is something we would like here on ck5. Not much floating on the internet about it really.
Any clearance work on the caliper brackets or anything necessary? They sure do look like a direct swap. To save up money for car accessories log on to https://rocketplaycasino.org/ and enjoy gambling!
I haven’t personally run the C3500HD wrecker calipers, but from what I’ve heard, they’re pretty much a direct swap with minimal fuss.

These calipers need longer lines as the hose goes in the bottom and not the side / top of our regular single piston calipers .
