After about 10 weeks of intermittent weekend work... its finally in and here she is (with new 6" lift springs installed). I took it out for a test drive yesterday and it ran well. I did encounter some death wobble after hitting a bump in the road. I went back and installed the steering stabilizer and couldn't reproduce the wobble going over the same bump multiple times. So I'm hoping we're past that

While testing the new front brakes, my engine was stalling! If I slammed on the brakes, the engine would cutoff. What should I look at to fix this? It's probably a tweak to the carburetor somewhere.

... and the next step.. installing the DIY4x shackle flip, freshly painted:

very cool! looks kickass man. bet you super psyked bro:bow:

ps. thanx for posting for EVERYBODY so see...
glad the stabilizer fixed the death wobble, i was gunna say you be rebuildin those K-pins..

Looks good man! But for the death wobble, I would still put atleast 1 fender washer in each cap.

I was thinking that the caster angle maybe some of the cause (since the rear lift is not yet installed). I measured the pinion angle last night and it was at 0 degrees. I didn't measure the caster yet, but since the whole truck is leaning back I'm sure its not at a stock angle. I don't have any shims installed. Once I get the rear shackle flip in, I'll take the stabilizer back off and test.

Anybody have an idea as to why the engine is stalling on a hard brake?

Changing the brakes over to the Bendix style shouldn't really draw too much more vacuum. What cam are you running? did you mess with your timing or carb settings?

I haven't touched the carb or timing since I bought the truck (last June). I have no idea what kind of cam it has and its got a 750 Edelbrock carb.

The first thing I'd say is that your carb is pretty darn big for a stock or close to stock 350. Do you have a tack? What's your idle set at? How old is the fuel you have in it?

however, if you've run this carb in the past with no issues and you have adjusted anything - I'd suggest performing a general tune up (adjust carb, plugs wires, cap/rotor, etc.)

Fuel is a finicky thing too, try freshening it up with some new stuff

well that didn't work...

I actually busted up laughing when I read this! I read the previous post and thought, I don't think thats what he meant to do. Thanks for the laugh.:haha:

As for the engine dying, does it die as soon as you hit the brakes hard or does it kinda sputter out and then die?
