I purchased a new dana 60 housing after I found out how much new inner c's would cost me. The housing has never been installed or assembled, other than some rust in pristine condition. The kingpins are 100% covered in rust, can I lightly sand them or is that a bad idea?

sanding them would cause extreme happiness :D

hit them with a wire wheel and some ~220 grit paper, hand sanded

I would replace them, there not that expensive and there will be no worries in the long run.

I guess I should elaborate. If the KPs are pitted or scarred from the rust, they should be replaced.

Ill hit it with a wire wheel after work tomarrow. I think it's just surface rust based on the rest of the housing
