Which do you like more if you have used them?
What are the pros and cons of each?

Since I have a Dana 60 now, I've been looking for little things to do to fix, replace or upgrade and I came across these kingpin bushings.

Any advantage to using the bronze over the plastic bushing? Other then it not cracking.

Sorry if this seems like a stupid post.

I also take it, these have to be used with a steering arm that has a preload adjustment on it? Or cap or non high steer applications?

When I first installed my D60 that came out of a '77 with unknown mileage there was serious death wobble. I then used the old washer trick.....place a couple fender washers between the cap and spring to act like a shim and increase spring pressure....and the death wobble went away. Bought new OEM style plastic bushings and springs and installed, and used 1 washer (vs. 2 with the old springs) and never had death wobble again.

I dont have death wabble but I'm sure mine need replacing. The bushing looks like it uses shims or washers because of the steering arm that has to be used but not sure if it adds any preload to it like it would if you added washers to the springs.

I put a new factory spring kit in my d60 when I rebuilt it...running 42s with high steer arms and full hydro...have had zero issues and no death wobble..If your not buying new steering arms then I'd just get a new factory spring kit...

I think eventually I would like to upgrade the arms. If I can possibly eliminate future problems..I would.

I read somewhere, possibly here. That the bushing with adjustable arms NEED adjusting now and then... The springs don't. I went with springs when I did my last dually. And decided to go that way with this K30 also.
Just because of reading that periodic adjustment thing basically. Not sure if it's even true, just seemed to make sense :dunno:

I haven't been able to find much into on the bushings or if many people have used them.

With the springless arms I had to adjust them a couple times with the plastic bushings. Since I upgraded to reid bushings I haven't had to adjust them. I use WFO arms btw.

the bronze bushing also fits tighter in the knuckle hole for less chance of slop inside .

i have run the crane offroad eliminator kit for the springs on a truck with 20 year old 44" swampers and new 46" m/t claws on the highway and no problems worked real good .

me i will be using the crane kit anymore as the springs do sag out over time .

and nothing against reid or other name brands but save some cash and use these . i have not heard any bad yet . https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dana-60-Ki...:FX8AAOSwjVVVnyCQ:sc:USPSPriority!14845!US!-1

Glad I made this post. Thanks for the link

i have rebuilt prob about 1 dozen dana 60 axles for king pins . any questions just tag me and i will see it .

and i have seen as much as a min of 1/8" sag cause death wobble on a stock king pin spring .

I run the Crane bushings. No wobble and it didn't affect the ride negatively.

I have ORD cross-over steering on my truck with a Dana-60, and new plastic king pin bushings with new springs. The one thing I have found is that with the ORD steering arm side I have a different stack of washer thickness than the other side that still has the stock factory steering knuckle cap. The ORD steering arm side required two washers for proper pre-load, and the factory stock side required one washer for proper pre-load that kept me from getting death wobble on my 36" tall tires.
