SO its been a minute, ok a year, 3 surgeries and alot of beers since I tore into my D60 for a rebuild. Now im getting at the rebuild part and i have one of these-

Its only about 1/16th thick and lines up perfectly with the knuckle studs with the rust patterns matching to where it should be located between the spindle and the knuckle.
Thing is I only have one and i know that the parts are all there. I've dug through the forums, the D60 Bible, and the Mil CUCV -9,-10, and -20 TM's and I've got squat.
So my question(s) is:
What is it?
Do i need it?
Which side should it go on, driver or passenger?

Thanks in advance

Is it thicker on one side than the other?

I have seen shims like that used to set the camber. It is thicker on one side so it shifts the spindle in one direction.

Yep, what boz42 said, it is a camber adjustment shim. I would leave it out and once you get the rig back together if it does alot of DD use then get it to an alignment shop and have them do an alignment. If camber is off on one side or both then you will need to measure that spacer at different locations all the way around and then install it in the appropriate orientation to adjust the camber accordingly.

It was probably a bandaid for a worn out upper pivot bushing. I would leave it out.
