The thread title says it all. Whats the best way to get this (lower kingpin bushing cap) off without grooving, marring, and chisleing the crap out of the mating surfaces? thanks in advance

Use a screw driver or other thin prying device to get under one edge and then just work it off. Sometimes you can beat them on opposite sides and get a little movement started. There is a lot of beef there so don't be afraid to use some force.

If you do harm the mating surface just file it smooth and go on with life.

Brass hammer - get the cap to rotate before attempting to drive it down. A soft brass or copper stock will also help to not mar the surface.
