dana 60 problems with video *FIXED*

the brake pads fit with out falling out when the bearings are out, but when i put them in, it pushes the rotor out and the pads are not held in at all /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Um, did I miss another post that goes with this? Why are you trying to put the pads in there with no caliper?

the reason is that the rotor doesnt sit far enough for the caliper to hold the brake pads in place. What i mean is if i slid the caliper on with the bearing on, the pad would still slide around loose, it doesnt make a difference here. IS there a pin/clip that holds the pad to teh caliper? because when i took mine apart there was nothing like that holding them on /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Brandon, after watching the video and seeing the space between the caliper mount before and after the bearing, its my assumption that you installed the caliper mount brackets wrong. That is, if you removed them. If you did remove them, its possible you may have got them turned around. The bearing hub is not going to sit as far back with the bearing installed as it did not without the bearing. Seeing the gap widen after you installed the bearing made my guess the caliper mount brackets are installed wrong.

But if you never removed the caliper mount brackets, ignore the above comments. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Caliper brackets can't go on backwards, the bolt circle is not symetrical.

On my brkae pads, the one torwards the piston has a clip that holds it into the piston bore. On the outer one, it just floats around.

They have them in the help section, they can't get them by looking them up the dealer could. I believe they were called disc brake pad clips in the help section. take a pad with you to test fit as they should have different sizes.

If he did what I did you can put them on the wrong side or switch the order the caliper mount and spindle go on. That will teach me to take it all apart wire wheel everything together then figure out what goes where.

The caliper brackets can go on left for right or even in the wrong order from the 'C' out.

Either way will cause fitment problems.

so should i try and turn the caliper mount so its on the other side and sticking out more?

I bought loaded calipers that have all the hardware and they don't have that clip. My 10B calipers did, but not the D60 /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

all chevys use thoise unless you want a flopping pad, and yes without it they can fall out, those arent in the grooves like the inside

Look closer Chris. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif The flange on the spindle is closest to the knuckle in the "correct" picture. It's farthest from the knuckle in the "incorrect" picture. /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

they can go on backwards. well, kinda. side to side can be swapped to offset the calipers incorrectly.
i ALMOST did it a year ago when i had my D60 appart for way to long.
i cant run out and look at my truck to find out, but i think his may be swapped side to side.
