I have a dana 60ff rear axle from a 3/4 ton Furd. has anyone used them on a chevy? is that as strong as the 14ff? i would imagine i would have to move spring perches and such. what would be a reasonable price for a dana 60ff?

FF dana 60s have roughly the same size tubes and wheel bearings as a FF 14 bolt. The shafts are significantly smaller. The ring and pinion on the 14 bolt is much, much stronger.

Even though both axles use 30 spline shafts the 14 bolt shafts are cut differently. If the 14 bolt shafts used the same diametrical pitch that dana axles use it would be closest to 37 spline.

FF 60 shafts are 1.31" which is the same size as 10/12 bolt shafts. Because its a full floating rear end its likely that it is made of a different material and is likely some amount stronger than a 1/2 ton rear end.

In summary, a FF60 rear is marginally stronger than 1/2 ton stuff and nowhere near as strong as a FF14 bolt.

thanks thats what i kinda thought from the info i found on them. not really worth my effort. i can get a 3/4 chevy 44 & 14sf for cheap so i might just do that instead.
