Dana 60 stub axle ujoint C-clip issues

Just put my 35 spline stub shafts on and am having some difficulty. 1 of the C clips on each shaft/ujoint will not snap in - basically the cap on the ujoint needs to press on a few more thousands for the clip to slip in. I have tried everything short of using a press and have had no luck. Was thinking about sanding or grinding down the C-clips just enough so that they slide into the grooves. Before I do that does anybody have any suggestions???

Did you try hitting the yoke "apart" with the hammer?

What exactly do you mean? Hitting one yoke so that one shaft moves away from the other?

No, you have th clamp the shaft in a vice, and then you have to beat on the inside of the yoke, to spread it apart. Do it ll the time. It can be a trick with the other shaft in the way.

Anybody know where to get replacement C-clips. One flew off when I was removing it and now I can't find it....

in my tool box drawer in the u-joint clip box.

otherwise a local driveline shop that does driveshafts.

could give you one . got to check out the ones i have . i have a LOT of them . but got to make sure i got a 60 stub joint one tho.
