Looking for the Dreaded D61 Front that can only house 3.07 gears. Anyone know who's really got one in real life? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Trying to confirm that they're not just a myth.../forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not a myth for sure, easiest source will probably be a Dodge CTD truck. Many of these trucks were equipped with the high ratio D61's (this same truck would also have a D70 that will ONLY accept 3.07's as well).

These should be in 89-93 Dodge CTD trucks. You'll find the 3.07 axles in non-O/D trucks but they still used the D61's in some O/D trucks with 4.10's. The D61's were fairly popular through that span so don't just look at the 3.07 trucks.

There is a guy on Pirate in the Vendor section named "Highonda" or something, he seems to move a lot of "D60's" but I've noticed he gets a fair amount of Dodge axles - he might have 61's and not know it. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

if you dont me asking why in the hell do you want one /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

For a minure there, I thought this was going to be one of those "Front 12 bolt" threads... /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Its a secret, and if you knew you would think Marv is /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

Anyone he has told thinks he is crazy (as if we already didn't believe he was). But his little plan might be crazy enough to work. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

some type of rear steer???? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Nope, My guess is he wants D60 strength without the price tag. He has the fun buggy now, but he will have the treasure buggy when he gets this project done. As in one mans trash is another's treasure buggy. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif I won't give away the details, I will let him do that on his own........ /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I think I've found a way to make 3.08 gears the ideal gearing setup!/forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif I'll post some pics soon that will shed some light on this....

Harley.../forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif - I like that.... "Treasure Buggy".../forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You know... another buddy named the "FunBuggy" when I was describing what I was building.

That just may stick!

Is it along the line of the other idea you and Jay are gonna brew up ? I think that one will go over well with the budget minded /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

are going to bolt portal boxes at the end for super low gearing???????? do they even make portal boxes for danas???????? damnit I want to know

Yes that is an idea, but why would you need a dana 60/61 for the centersection if you are using portal boxes? A dana 44 centersection would be cheaper and plenty strong enough with portals on the ends.

no portals involved. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif keep thinking though

TTT for a D61

Probably gonna put some sort of planetary hub setup on it, not easy im sure, but could get some REAL LOW gearing without a doubler or anything.
