Dana 70 front??

Yea there is, I believe that is where the 35 spline outers are from basically. Not sure about that last bit but there is definately a D70 front.

there is such a thing for sure...in fact, when guys go 35spine outers...that's what they use....D70 outers in our 60's. bolt right in.

So the 70 housing and gears are not as strong or is it just a beefier alternative to have the 35 splines in the 60's??

As far as the eaton rear you reckon it's a 70 too ??

would it be worth checking out in other words??

i have heard negative things about 70 front. but im not sure what actually was bad about them. maybe someone will chime in

they are closed knuckle, which makes them weaker than a 60. some also have drums up front as well i believe.

Hey randy where at in arcadia u live at.
I actually live in Middlebrook. If you've ever been to Ironton and crossed the big bridge on W/NN they just opened up then you've passed my house before. I live there in the brown house with the many Chevy trucks in the yard :D

Only time I saw the real one was at Bloomsburg couple years ago. Brand new unit from Dana, Quigley had a booth with a couple of them for sale. These things are monsters, like comparing a 60 with a 44. Local yard here has a closed knuckle one, thought about getting just the center for a paper weight....

Yea i used to stop there all the time when i lived out that way. My neighbors wife works there. Is The owners name Tony.
They have new owners now. Names are Dwayne and his wife Bobby. Not sure who owned it before them though. They own Little Whiskers the bar in Ironton which i'm currently helping on rebuiding back into a bar

Ok i've never heard of a 70 front...

Is there such a thing or is this guy a moron??

There are some open knuckle D70 front axles out there. They were offered in early Dodge motorhomes. They are very rare indeed. I've seen pictures of them before.

I printed off some pages of this topic that was on Pirate. I will need to get out the papers and type in the link. It does show pictures of the rare housing and other stuff, too. It looks like a D60 but larger. The "C"s are bigger, much like what the Dedenbears look like.

To be continued tomorrow, when I dig out the papers to get the link....
