I would like some info on the dana 70 front end. Are they as strong as you would think and are they worth buying and building up. Thanks
Ryan

Not worth buying and building up IMHO. They almost always have drum brakes, no lockouts, 10.5" ring gear, and they are usually found in a dodge. Most if not all i've ever seen are also closed-knuckle-yuck! The only advantage to them is that they sometimes came with 35 spline 1.5" outter stub shafts. But you can upgrade a D60 to the 35 spline models and you will have a nearly indestructable assembly.

Unless you dont mind spending a pretty penny, have Dynatrac custom build you one. I called them once, and they said they CAN build a D70 front axle!!! This would be the ticket to bulletproofness if the D60 is not enough (which it is). You could get the custom D70 in open knuckle, 35 spline inner and outers, any ratio, etc. Give Dynatrac a call for a quote. Bet it will run around $4000.00. (shudder!)

As long as we are talking custom axles, could a 14b front axle be built? I know they are big, how much bigger than a d60? I am just asking because I don't know, not because I plan on doing it(unless it makes since to and is possible).
