Dare I say it...Another 72 K5 build! The Bubba build - getting back into it

Turn the bolt around :dunno: I believe thats what I did all those years ago. Or get a shallower headed bolt? just guessing. I do remember turing the bolt and it was not a fun job! Gluck

I've got some of the greaseable grade 8 bolts from Kert in there right now, so the zerk is sticking out of the head... I suppose I could get a regular bolt and put it in there and it would take care of that issue. Of course, it'll be a big pain to get the bolt in there with the headers in place.

I'll take a look and see of that would be doable...

Can you run the bolt the other way? If you need to take it apart just do it from the FUSH?

Edit: Never mind. I guess this screen was up to long. :doah:

Yeah, I think that would work if I ditch the greaseable bolt. So I guess in the next few days I'll hit fastenal and then borrow my buddy's welder again.:doah:

Long term, yeah, turn the bolt around. Either drop the FUSH to get to it, or pull the header. Had to do that on mine with some previous headers.

Short term, can you squeeze a sawzall in there and cut the end of the bolt (and zerk) off flush with the nut? :dunno:

I'll have to get the shackle and spring out of the way to weld it up anyways, so I'll pull the top bolt and just lift the truck higher and let it drop. Weld it up, install the new lower bolt the other way around, and then lower it back down and put the top bolt back in. Should work just fine:waytogo:

Well that's better...

Pay no attention to the wasted bushing, it's on the list.

Also found this... Must have run over something pretty sharp at the concert!

Called the cage guys and they're hopefully going to get me in this week. Time's ticking though!

Well, it was a good summer messing with the truck. But, it's now over and the blazer is on jack stands and I'm about to be on a plane back to Germany.

Even though I didn't get any good pictures of it this summer and it sucks to put it in storage again, hopefully I'll be starting a new thread soon aus Deutschland! We'll see what kind of (im)practical vehicle I pick up :D

did you ever get the cage sorted out/ installed?

Nope. The shop never called me back. I called a couple times and was told the same BS every time, then it got too close to worry about it. I'll get it sorted next time I'm in the states. Hopefully we can move back in a year and a half and buy some property and have a real garage. Then I'll build it myself or get one of kert's kits if they're ready.

poopy feathers. although I guess if you cant drive it for a while, not having a cage isn't really that big of a deal right now.

Going to miss the updates and the constant nagging by us to get ya to do a wheelie. :D :haha:

Till the next time you're on the road again, Big Red. You had a pretty good summer for an old truck. :thumb:

I'll miss it too dude! Hopefully next time I'm home I can focus and get someone to take some wheelie pics/video!

I did try to convince my dad's buddy to let me run over a car he has at the warehouse... He said no:confused:

I want to get a couple old scrappers for out back as well...Blame that all on Jeff.
