oh, i have a real clean 77 one here... think thats pre-80 style... anyone else in need, pm me...

maybe reupholster it.. not too hard.. i've done em before... certainly WAY less time then fiberglassing one.. if ya need fiberglass help, gimme a shout... :D

go down to the fabric shop and get a quality vinyl in your choosing, some contact cement, a heatgun and your dining room table.. :doah: one of those good indoor projects...

Heck, surf CK5 while ya do it! I do that all the time, building a switch panel right now... :haha:

i am in the process of tearing down one and rebuilding. here is some pics:
i dont know what i want to do to recover it, but i do want to use the factory air vents if possible. i bought this old one at a pick and pull for 10 bucks. its a good test subject.

If you could cover the holes with glass or some sort of backing could you line-x it?

i just took a chisel and scraped it all off, then a sander and got it all down to metal. i want to cover the holes from the back side then use some sort of soft rubberized coating to cover the whole dash. i need to find a good bed-liner that is really soft or rubbery then i will coat it all. anyone got any ideas???

Line-x is a bed liner. It's really good stuff, but ut us expensive. Then again all bed liners, whether it's no name, or brand name is expensive.

But the line-x stuff is good. I remember seeing this comercial for it. They coated a cinder block with the stuff, and dropped in 5 or 6 floors, and it just bounced off the sidewalk.

The truck I bought has the floors, and the roof coated in bed liner. nice stuff. rubbery, and good grip, but it collects dust pretty good.

where can i buy line-x at? the internet?? anywhere local that sells it????

You have to find your local line-x dealer, I highly doubt they would sell you the stuff in bulk or by the gallon, you have to have the equipment to spray the stuff.. It is however cheaper to have it sprayed if you do the prep work yourself..

Herculiner or duplicolor have DIY roll on bedliner kits.

I have to say, not having seen a stock dashpad stripped to the steel it looks pretty cool without the padding. Wouldn't take much to cover the holes with tape and cover it with bedliner materail. The Line-x or Rhino stuff can be sprayed to 1/4" thick so it might bring the overall size back up to what it was with the foam. Plus you can get the rhino done with a smooth finish too. I might have to get a junk dash from the boneyard...
