dash ??

yea it does look badass with the holes and stuff but it is really flimsey, it needs the foam/vinyl to keep it rigid. i just want to add a layer of rubber to make it a tad softer/warmer looking and to add a little rigidity.

if you fill the holes to stiffen it, you could use some spray can undercoating from the parts store. it has a cool texture when dry

ok so here is my progress so far:
i have bonded sheet aluminum to the back in pieces so that it filles all the holes.
i have put about 2 coats over 90% of the dash so far. i dont like the color i will probably cover it in black once i get the desired thickness of liquid rubber on it.

got er all done! looks good i think, ultra heavy duty. im not worried about beating it up at all. now i can save the original one.

That actually looks really nice with all those dimples in it!!!

I thought it would look bad, but it looks kinda industrial-esque, hahaha. I like the grey, good color choice.

i seriously debated filling them in all the way. it looks better in person too. its kinda soft and rubbery. i covered it with a rubber coating then sprayed it with some rubber undercoating stuff. came out nice. its pretty black just the way the sun hit it made it look lighter.

i am happy with it

it looks rough and will take a beating too.

i almost lost a finger to it, dont ask how

i got fiber glass resin and matting underneath to cover the wholes and fiber glass filler on the top of them. I got a grill cut up off a neon so i could have something to hide the heater vents. looks pretty cool i have alot more sanding and filling to do. Im probly gona just spray it with base clear or some kind of bumper coating. Im also thinking about moving adding some in dash cup holders so they fold in and out since my truck has a bench seat and a shifter on the floor.

edit:
i was also afffraid that the gauge cluster panel thing wouldnt fit looks like i got some more fiber glassing to do to make it fit. DO'H

HHHMMMMMNNNN       Well, this does have me thinking some about how I can rework my dash.....time to start working on it, oh and my lift, and my engine, and....dang I got a lot of work to do!

yea there is a lot of foam in the dash, if you do it from the metal up you have to add a lot to get the gauges to look right. mine are ok, but it would look a lot better with something built up on the edges like the original dash

Now just order up a new dash pad from LMC and you'd be set.:thumb:
