We need a B-52 kit for 88-98 trucks. My stupid guidance counselor in High School never let me sign up for metal shop, so I can't fab or weld. But it cars were made of wood, I could build my own SAS, but until I learn the art of steel, I look to you, Kert.

I have never thought of myself as an Ironmonger but do like the sound of that and according to wikipedia, I guess its true.

That being said, we do have a candidate behind the shop for such a project.

Currently the R and D spot has a project in it that needs to be completed and released before we can move on to another piece. Definitely something we'll be doing along with all the associated smaller pieces to compliment.

Oh no.... if the DIY4X shop starts spitting out stuff to do a SAS on '88-'98's I'm not sure I could avoid pulling the trigger. :)

we can find lots of 88-up around here. so this would be great.

1 other thing ...... make them for 4x4 frames and 2x4 frames.

I have a no name SAS kit, I would almost be willing to ship it to kert to design something better off from it. It didnt even come with instructions.

(hi-jack on)  The ****ing liberals in the public schools have even taken away the freedom of choice IN SCHOOL??? :angry1: :angry1: :angry1: (hi-jack off)

My dad owns a business that builds all steel campershells and the guy wanted me to hook him up with a deal. I don't even work for my dad, and he doesn't do "deals" anyways, so instead of Industrial Arts classes, I got to take classes like Music Appreciation. I hated that guy.

YES, get some out for both 4x4 & 4x2 frames ASAP (please)
I have a rust free 94 4x2 that I want to put a Dana 60 &
a 14BFF under it .
Have the axles, have the truck just need the RIGHT parts to make it happen :D

maybe some SAS kits for the NBS truck. you could get so much business. just sayin....:D:D

I'd be on that bandwagon also..i have a 96 4 door 4wd Tahoe that would so get a sas on it! if it was just a matter of buying the brackets i would do it alot faster...I'd like to see the front brackets done like kerts bumper center w/spaces for the spring to bolt to & the radiator support also built in to bumper center & that whole piece bolt to front frame rails(if that's possible on 88-99 models), I've seen him build the bumper center for the 2nd gens w/all the goodies built onto the bumper center like i described. and i would trust kert when it comes to the best way to mount the rear shackles on the front spring.

i would go on the hunt for a 77-79 ford 8 lug front end...i want to leave engine/trans/t-case all stock and just swing a ford axle under it, then have a d-shaft made & hit the road.(it wouldn't get wheeled, just a mall crawler) i guess i would go w/a ford 8 lug, as i have a rear 8 lug d60hd, that's been sitting for yrs, i could put it in the rear, so i would have matching bolt patterns front & rear.

unless i could find away to make the ford front axle have the correct 6 lug Chevy pattern. i haven't verified it or tried to match part #'s yet to see if my cousin is giving me correct info. he has a 77-79 ford w/a high pinion d44 w/the stock 1/2 ton 5 lug rotors and calipers. he also has a 85 k5 that's lifted & running 42's & it has unknown year 8 lug d44 under it,(it has external hubs, if that narrows down the field) he has rebuilt both the 8 lug d44 under his k5 & the 5 lug d44 under his ford, checked and repacked the bearings on both alot of times,...and he swears that the inner/outer bearing & seals are the same between the ford 5lug d44 rotors & the Chevy 8lug d44 rotors in his k5. from the way it sounds, you could put a Chevy rotor on the ford d44 spindles and have a correct Chevy 6 lug pattern on a drivers side drop diff axle. anyone know if that is possible? that would make it alot easier to find a ford axle w/Chevy bolt pattern to use on the sas....altho 8lug would probably be better off since i want to run 39.5's on my sas'd street queen Tahoe.

From what I understand from my own research, you only need a chevy rotor and hub to convert the 1/2 ton d44 to 6 lug.

Just a side note on your d line- I SAS my 1990 3/4, went with the ford dana 60. Anyways a dodge 1 ton drive line bolts right up. They use a flangs on the front that needs to be removed and a regular u-joint put in, but that was it. The already have a double cardigan at the top with a flange that will bolt onto the 241. I am running what would be considered 6" lift with 55" front leaves and have never dropped the slip out. The years are something like 2000 or 01-06 or 07. New they where in the $200 range, bone yard I'm sure would be cheaper. Mine where $free99!:D
