Dear Diy4x. . .

I know my spelling sucks, it didn't underline it when I typed it so I thought it was close!!:doah:
Just googled it, wow was I off with that one. Double Cardan. It is the Missouri side in me coming out.

yea, i understood! i didn't think the d-shaft was wearing 2 preppy button up sweaters...that's a really good tip, i can start trying to find those parts, b/c i so want to sas my tahoe...i looked at sweetk30's sas thread...and from what i could see the front spring mount goes under the front frame horns & b/c of the way the frame does on the ifs trucks, the rear shackle mount actually goes on the inside of the frame...i am searching and reading all the sas threads i can find...then I'm going to talk to kert about a bumper center w/rad support mounts & spring mount all integral that will fit right on the frame. i like his bumper center and when you add the spring mounts and rad support its just sexy & kills several birds w/1 stone.

I would definitley go for it on my 2000 K30. (Yes it's the same body style as the 88-98 1/2 tons)

The rear shackle location depends on what axle you go with. The older ford 78-79's are 4 inches narrow than a newer (80's) ford dana 60, and the newer dana 50's are even wider. A few of the SAS kits put the shackle under the frame rail so you can use the wider dana 60. I think it is the off road unlimited one. Just something to be aware of when getting all of your parts together, and for kert to consider, maybe have two or something. I don't really know the spring pad width of the chevy's because I wanted a Ford one, one for the HP and also to keep the drivers drop.
Here is a pic of the front of mine. My springs have no lift to them so it does hang down in front but rides smooth. The second is of my old body and is the only one I could find of the side. You can just barely see the spring going under the frame behind the tire. The shackle mount lines up the V in the frame. Hope this helps a little. If you wanted some more pics I could take some this weekend. Just let me know.

pretty sure 2x4 and 4x4 frames where the kit would bolt up are identical... i know 2x4 has coil buckets on the frame but that doesnt affect the sas kit in the least.

that being said i would buy the $hit out of a DIY4X SAS kit! i have an OBS 99 2500 ccsb that cound use a d60 in its life :wink1:

also like has been said a 32.5" and a 36.5" pad width kit would be cool, i guarentee you could overwhelm the 88-98 SAS kit market (specificly ORU) with your superior product quality/beef and your awesome pricing

Just for the record my stuff is from SKY MFG, DIY4X didn't have it, yet!!:D Would have love to have bought from him thou..

ORU cost a pretty penny to! i wonder if a 3 link kit could be possible to kert??? just another thought lol

i want to keep my factory engine/trans/drivers side drop t-case also, so i will need to find a ford axle myself..i would like to find an 8 lug but doesn't have to be a d60, did ford 3/4 tons have a drivers side 8 lug d44?...it will be a street queen w/ 38 or 39.5 tsl sx's(i love their sidewall)

I'm curious about the dodge drive line mentioned fitting my Tahoe as i have, iirc its a np243. it has the push button 4x4..so it may be easier just to get a front d-shaft made to go between my stock t-case and the ford axle..i have a d-shaft shop local and their prices are decent...i could deffinitly get that d-shaft faster than finding the right dodge unit. so i need to find my ford axle before i even start to try and fit my springs for the sas since there are different varieties
