delusional jeep guys

Are you stereotyping me?

:xmas:

I was going to say the same thing. Who here cars about body damage???? I haven't seen many pics that would make that remotely true.

EDIT

Oh yeah, the redneck thing was bad too.. bad.... right???

ultimate comment to a smart mouthed guy with a jeep...

"wow, cute jeep, is it your girlfriends?"

this conversation-ending fatality is especially brutal if the guy is painfully single. lol!!!

I prefer to wheel with full-size guys, because we have similar interests, similar problems, etc. I can spot for a Blazer all day, but put a Jeep in the mix and I start asking "why spot? Just squeeze it through..." :D

That said, I'll wheel with anybody who's cool. I like Blazers instead of Jeeps because of the "different" factor. Every time I hit the trail, there is guaranteed to be 100 Jeeps out, and I might see half a dozen full size rigs. Like Tiffster said, they are easy to modify, lots of SEMA crap for 'em, and easy to wheel. I prefer a self-built rig, and with Blazers, the lack of a large aftermarket forces us to fab and build our own stuff. To me that's cool.

I would never buy a Jeep, but if the person behind the wheel is cool, or at least a tasty lady, I'm up for a bit o' wheelin...

I hear that... we mainly have fullsize 4x4's around here, but most of them lifted and running at least 36's... my little K5 on 32's is a bit "different" i like to think... it's the little truck that could. They have to play in the mud pits, while I'm the only one that can fit down the quad tracks, heck I banged up my rear quarter with a decent dent from a tree the other day, doing a near 60-70 degree getting close to 80 or so on the top 5 feet; 20-foot hill... short and sweet, but those lifted rigs can't do it. But I can put on a good show with mine going up it :P

a guy in my club has a 78 cj with a tpi 350/sm465/205 and dana 60's, he says its all badass (which it is) but at the end of the day when you wash it off, it still says jeep on the hood

There is sometimes a bone stock YJ parked down the street from my work with a big sticker across the windshield that says, "H2 RECOVERY TEAM." Say what you want about the H2, but a puny little stock jeep with probably a 2.5L 4-popper is not going to be recovering any H2 (or any full size) from anywhere.

Last winter, It snowed crazy here is Reno. The most I have ever seen. Anyways, my buddy came across a guy who had got his Isuzu Trooper stuck in a snow filled ditch. My friend offered to hook up his 98 Burban to the Trooper and pull it out, for free, with his own tow strap. But the guy said, "No, I don't need help. It's a Jeep Thing." Not kidding, he really said that. So the guy went home and got his jeep wrangler, strapped up to the Trooper and proceeded to get the Jeep stuck with the strap tight between it and the Trooper. So my friend, who waited to see all this, ended up hooking up his Burban to the Jeep and pulling out the Jeep and Trooper. If it really is a "Jeep Thing," I don't want to understand.

Screw that. If I'm stuck, I'll take help from a pinto if it can do the job. You can't wheel if yer stuck

Jeeps, fullsize, whatever. Everything is a trade off and there is never an all around best rig for everything. I say pick your weapon and go play. I like what my Suburban is capable of, so thats how I roll.

Glad you posted those pics, John. I was starting to forget what your truck looks like; it's been so long since it was on a trail.

not all jeep guys are bad. not saying that. a few months ago, i came across 2 jeep guys that didn't know their way around the trails, so they followed me. my k5 is stock 350 with 31's (for now) and no lift (yet). one had 33's and a modest lift. the stock jeep got stuck a few times. the other jeep couldn't pull him out, so i had to. but i never made fun of them for getting stuck, or lacking power, and they didn't make any excuses. more fun that way, i think.

and my jeep friend swears jeeps are so much better than k5's, but has weak reasons. his mileage isn't better. there's barely enough room to sit, much less carry anything. his engine is wimpy. he has a top speed of about 70mph, while i easily do 85+ (then the speedo tops out). and my k5 outdoes his jeep on most offroad stuff. tight turns are about my only weakness. but it's still great for a fullsize. i don't hate jeeps or anything, and i don't have a problem with people being proud of their ride. i just hate hearing them bragging, especially with weak reasons.

I wheel with some Jeep drivers from a local club. They are good people. They respect most any built trail rig. We do some good natured kidding about each others rigs. But no one out and out trashes someone's truck. The first ride I went on with them, all that was said was "Do you have lockers?" And they did a safety inspection on my K5 and off we went a good time was had by all. They like having a Full Size along to pull them out. But they have to pay the piper when I get stuck LOL.
One of the Guys has real nice CJ with 350/350 and D44s He took off every emblem ECT, that said "Jeep" in his rig and replaced or painted it over with a Bowtie. :thumb:

But I have met a few jerks who drive jeeps.
Out local club has a "Banging Bones" weekend every Memorial Day where they organize trail runs and have an Obsticle course open to all. I was on a trail run and some Jeep Eleitest was trashing my K5 and Chevys in general. I was bringing up the rear on a trail run and the guy was laughing at me and said thats where Chevys belong. He was informed by the other members that I was back there too pull him out when he got stuck, and help people who are having trouble. He shut up after that.
This same jerk held up the whole trail ride on every hill climb because he had a Edelbrock 600 CFM carb on a Ford 302 that would not run on hills. He was flooding out bad. I tried to help him out by suggesting he get a Q-Jet but he got mad saying he would not put any POS Quadra Junk Chevy part on his ford powered Jeep. Then another member said GM TBI would be even better  . He about lost it. The Pres of the club told him he need to turn around and go back because he was leaking gas and his Jeep was a fire hazzard. The guy was real pissed and we never saw him for the rest of the weekend. Good riddance.
