Detroit install--problem

I just finished installing my Detroit locker in my 14BFF rear. I took it for a test drive and noticed it pulling to the right when driving straight, when I let off the gas it quits pulling and feels normal. Is this just how they feel or is something not right. Im running Lucas heavy duty gear oil in it (if that matters). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
 
Make sure the tire pressures are all equal.
 
Front hub isn't locked, I drove it to the store yesterday before I installed the locker, and it drove fine. Good advice though, easily overlooked. I havent checked the tire pressures, guess ill do that tomorrow.
 
Did you remove all of the shims from the carrier? There should have been 6 1 for each gear inside the carrier. Also did you check its operation before you put it back on the ground?

I only count 4 shims/washers that are left over. they are concave shape that go on the spider gears. Was there two more that I missed? I looked at two different install write-ups and neither said anything about these washers. I sure hope I dont have to do the process all over again.
 
Just 4 washers. Hope you left them out, too.
 
Likely just a bit of "locker steer" you'll have to get used to. My truck has a manual trans, and under throttle it pulls a little right, then on the upshift it stops pulling right until i'm on the throttle again.

It shouldn't be as noticeable with an auto...

There should have been a shim under each side gear also. Atleast mine had them in there. They were hard to notice because the gear oil would cause them to stick to the carrier and I had to break the "suction" to get them off of the case.

Having said that did you verify operation per the install instructions before you buttoned everything up?

Mine will get a little push when going from coast to power but that is just how a detroit works. I have an auto but a manual it can move a-lot.

X2 the shims on the sides gears are # 5 and #6 out of the 6.
 
so im guessing I'm going to have to take it back out. I dont remember seeing the 2 washers on the side gears, just the four on the spider gears that are concave. I was kinda hoping I didnt have to redo it. Im guessing those washers are still there and causing the problem.
 
Yep, definately are supposed to have shims under those side gears as well.
 
Thanks for all of the responses, Ill remove it tomorrow and remove the shims. Ill post back after the re-installation. I guess I can say lesson learned.
