The 'soft' part is revision to the original design to eliminate some of the clunking & banging. I think all the light-duty applications have all been revised, the medium/heavy duty are still the original design.

There is only one ... Detroit for a 14bff. May depend on what axle you're ordering it for, but I believe there's only one Detroit for any given app.

4wheel parts

I just ordered a detroit and 5.38 gears from 4wheel parts. Totaled about $775 and free shipping.

Almost got credit card happy and ordered some 44" boggers then smartened up a bit. Gotta pay this stuff off first.

Know where I can get some cheap drive flanges?

That place is worse than PORC. ::shrug:: Ain't NOTHING free with them

Still, if you're happy, cool. The only thing I buy from 4WPW is their TTC videos, as (1) they're the only places that sells them and (2) they're hard to screw up.
