Deulings 1988 Yamaha Warrior; Paddles Mounted/ Silver lake Pics

If you really like the bike mod it, just saying a completely modded out Warrior still wont be as fast as or handle as good as a 400EX Or Banshee.

Like I said above , Warriors are stone ax reliable and perform fairly well for a only being a 2-valve Head. but if find your self wanting/needing more speed step up to Raptor or YFZ450 you'll be money and time ahead.

warrior engines are bullet proof
but the reason no one mods them is cause at the end of the day...it's still a warrior.
Heavy
Small framed
Slow

But perfect for beginners and perfect for super tight technical, push branches out of the way, trails. I modded the hell out of mine and it's still going strong, but it only took me about 3 months to go out and buy my TRX450R. If you get the itch to do something to the warrior, up the front sprocket, bore the cylinder 1st over, drop in a piston and cam, UNI filter kit, and tune the carb. Easy and under 450 bucks. :) I wouldn't spend anything more on it.

But if you do get a Raptor or YFZ keep the Warrior too!!

Im sure ill get something bigger some day and give the warrior to my little brother (13 at the moment), I put my paddles on and had it in the backyard when he got home and he goes OMG ADAM I LOVE YOU!!! THAT LOOKS SO COOL!!! He wants it bad and I taught him to ride it a few weeks ago. I prolly wont ever sell it, because heck I paid $500 for it from my cousin who barely rode it and the last orv he had on it was from 97!!:woot:

Yup im sure thats what ill do, maybe a slip on pipe as well and call it good. Have a grand invested in a very mid range capable quad that can climb everything at the dunes (not lookin to be the fast drag quad) and still be a sweet trail quad. Plus im not that big into everything, Its just something to do every now and then thats much cheaper than wheelin the truck lol

I would ditch the front bumper and Light bar it really cleans up the look.

Also you can make your own front sand tires by cutting all but the center lugs off your tires with a propane torch and a 2" wood chisel. and then buff them with a wire wheel on a grinder its messy but cheap and they work fairly good.( not quite as good as real front runners but close) you'd be amazed how much it helps in the sand

Yah I figured they are worth a try. Prolly get them for labor day weekend.

Those tires look pretty nice!! Ill see how these handle tomorrow:waytogo:

those tires you have are what I run on my raptor they really are nice for carving bowls and turning . where as straight paddles want to go ........... straight lol

The paddles worked great. Had a blast. Jacked my shoulder up loading the quad in the truck though, Idk what really happened but it hurts like crazy lol.

All in all a great weekend, still love this thing

SWEET!!!
I need to get you out here ridin pismo, dumont, and glamis now :)

Oh how I envy you. This place gets really small really quick riding a quad or bike instead of in a truck. You can get around the whole place in 5 min if you wanted to. Well go around the outside I mean. But oh well its 45 min away so I cant argue:thumb:

Oh and when you guys say the tie rod ends break alot, do you mean they actually snap off or they get loose?? I was just wondering what to look for, ive been beating the crap out of it at the dunes and everything feels solid as can be. Maybe the sand is just that much more forgiving. My back sure hurts though lol.

You ride that thing on any of the ORV trails the state has? I went out a couple times with a friend in Traverse City who had a bike and a buggy thing. Made me envious of all the legal wheeling there was for ATV's and the like vs trucks.

1) anything 45min away is awesome!
2) I read you asking about that earlier but I've never seen, nor heard of any tierod problems. I have two warriors that have taken a beating, flipped a couple times too. I also have a cousin with an 87 warrior, all stock, nothing replaced, not even the clutch, and it works like a champ. So I wouldn't worry about tierods, just check them when you do a once over before each trip. By check them, wiggle them around and call it good. :waytogo:

Cool man, I do check them everytime for any slop and they always feel pretty good.

Unfortunately sunday while loading the quad in the van I jacked up my shoulder. It hurt sunday night pretty bad but i could deal with it. Monday morning I woke up for work and I couldnt even roll over to hit my alarm, scared the crap out of me. My entire left shoulder was so stiff and it made all the muscles in my neck tight too. Called into work, and went to the Dr. said I severely strained my Trapezious which is a big triangular muscle in the shoulder that goes down the back as well. So he gave me muscle relaxers which didnt do crap. So I called in and they got me Tramadol. Holy crap my whole body is numb lol. This stuff works pretty good though. Doc told me not to go to work today also.

Im gonna go in tomorrow though. Just spent the last 2 days laying on a heat pad and rotating with a bag of ice. I need to stretch more I guess before loading the quad lol. We didnt bring ramps into the dunes because its way quicker to just both of us pick up and put it in, but I must have been in an awkward position lol.

Might want to consult a chiropractor. Sounds a lot like my shoulder and my chiro has made a WORLD of difference for me.
