85 K30 with hydro boost. Recently replaced powersteering pump and modded it per west texas pump mod page for hydraulic assist. Everything was working fine till took it down the road Saturday and lost power steering and most of my brakes. Seems to me like the pump must be bad just thought I'd get some insight before tearing into it again.:doah:

If you overdid the mods in the pump it can stick. It happened to me, the internal spring would not move.

Pulled the belt off the power steering pump, noticed that the pulley seemed loose, pulley and shaft it is connected to pulled out of the front of the power steering box!!! Ding, Ding, Ding!!! I think we have a winner here!:D Looks like it had a small gear on the end of the shaft that sheared off. Did the mods I did make it do this? Drilled out the hole per instructions and stretched spring some like intructions on west texas offroad say to do.

Probably, the mods are awfully hard on pumps and seal IME.

A new pump (not a cheapy) will provide all the pressure you'll need.
