Did I install my calipers upside down?

So as I was hooking up my brake lines... I noticed something was not quite right. Is it just me, or aren't the brake lines supposed to attach at the TOP of the caliper? I am fairly certain they are. So I guess I just need to pull the tires off, and swap the brackets and calipers. I am fairly certain that the calipers would only go onto the bracket one way, but that does not mean the brackets aren't just on the wrong side... Any input?

yup, upside down. the bleeder screw should always be up top, easiest way to check.

as for swapping brackets, etc. .... I have no clue.

you need to swap brackets left to right. and calipers.

so you will be pulling the hubs and hub/rotor units off then brackets.

bleaders up and wedge spring block bottom for the caliper.

sucks to be you now. :doah:

In teh front, yes, bleeders go up. But on many rear disk swaps, the bleeders do point down.

Yep, definately calipers on the wrong side and upside down. The brackets even have an L and R cast into them. :doah:

Lol, thanks for the info guys. Already swapped em, perfect fit this time:-) Nothing like a good refresher, think it took about 5 minutes per side, go go impact!

what the heck you talkin about?

all the swaps i have done thay go up like thay are supost to be. dont know what kind of parts you are using?

eldorado calipers, point them down, use factory parking brake cable. :D

I certainly hope you aren't serious. I'm guessing not with the smiley face. But if you are then you are wrong. ALL bleeder screws point up otherwise you cannot bleed the system as air travels to the highest point.

He's not kidding. some guys really do put the eldo calipers on upside down. Makes the ebrake cable work more easily. to bleed, you have to undo the cable, unbolt the caliper, and hold it by hand on the rotor so the bleed screw faces up. Inconvenient, but how often do you really bleed the brakes?

exactly. :D

Thank you, that was exactly what i meant. I KNOW for sure i have read posts where guys have to dismount their calipers in the rear to bleed, due to this problem. Is it ideal? No. But some rear disk conversions are setup like this.

I have not personally done any of these swaps, just repeating what i know i have read around here.
