i am almost 90% sure that i need to replace the injector pump on the 6.5l  started getting fuel from the tank, to the primary filter, from there to the block mechanical fuel pump, from there to the secondary filter to the injector pump.. and BLAMO! thats where she stops. pulled the IP (injector pump, just so u know) apart, since the top of it comes off, it was full of fuel! so i was thinking, sweet.. this is good, clean it off best i can, inspect it, blah blah.. put it back on, pop 2 injector lines, and try to crank it over hoping for fuel to be coming out. i got a little bit of moisture/fuel/whatever the eff it is.. and still cant get the ****er to start! no smoke, no nothing :doah::( is there a way to test the IP at all?? im desperate! i called Checker Auto 2nite, they qouted me $600 for a new pump! 600 ****IN DOLLARS!! HOW? WHY?

Any input would greatly be appreciated

ROFL! ya it originally came with the 6.2, but was swapped for a 6.5l. im pretty sure its one of the first years the 6.5 came out, its non turbo, are they pretty much all interchangeable?

Hahahaha, his truck is 82 but the engine is not seeing as how they didn't make the 6.5 until 91 or so

not sure ,the pump I have is a 1993 model turbo 6.5 but it's all mechanical like the old 6.2's so it might work not 100% sure though you'll have to do a bit more research you could ask tRustyk5 he is pretty up to date on this gm diesel stuff

Try Tim at www.accuratediesel.com

I had my 6.2 IP and 8 injectors rebuilt there for $347 and that included shipping. Truck still runs like a champ...

Rene

seems to be alot of stuff on that site, so tRustyK5, would u happen to know if i could use an IP out of a turbo'd 6.5 like yellowK20 is saying? can they swap just like that? or is there more to it?

the 93' DB2-4911 that yellowk20 it talking about will definately work for you. It's probably the same as what you have in if you've got the 6.5 mechanical pump. You might concider getting your rebuilt as a high mile pump might be a short bit away from what your's is doing. But it will work for you

Thats true it does have High miles but it was well taken care off until it popped from over-reving no leaks, always started, never used either or plugged it in since I've had it My father in law had it before and it was babied then to

well if it will work, shoot me a pm or email [email protected] (probably email, i check that more often) with a price, and all the good junk. i need to get the k5 going asap!

Thats cheap as far as diesels go. My injection pump is around $1,100 rebuilt exchange, P7100 pumps are $2K.

get a rebuilt exchange if you aren't on a super tight budget, that way you have a fresh pump that is going to last the life of the truck.

did you check the fuel cutoff solenid?? it may be getting intermittent voltage or the return line check valve stuck. I had to crank mine over alot before getting fuel to all cylinders!! try only cracking one or two injectors at a time with everything else tight "this will help purge air out of the lines"

or do you know all of this already and I'm pissing into the wind!!:D

I would make sure you check the lift pump before throwing an IP in it. Easy to do just open up the t-valve and make sure you have fuel coming out there.
