Difference between K5 and K10 Blazer?

Is there a K10 blazer?? No

Are there titles out there with K10 on them? Yes

My 86 k5 says. K10 on the title my registration says K10 but it is very much a K5

Just a typo I guess

It's not a typo, GM internal codes are always K10 for the older style, and V10 for 87 and up, the only thing that is K5 is the badge on the blazer.

As I stated in my post, it's been discussed to death before. I just didn't pull up the post. :thumb:
The "K5" appeared only on the badges for the Blazer, on both 4WD and 2WD versions.

It, along with the 1/2 ton pickups and Suburbans, is referred to as a K-10 (4WD, 1/2ton) or C-10 (2WD.)

Oh, heck, I've said this all before:

K-10, V-1500, K/5, etc etc... :D

It has been said in this thread already, but yes, a 4x4 Blazer is a K10 (or V10/V1500). The "K5" badge is just a meaningless badge GM slapped on them.

I compared the VIN and it matches the title and appears to be untampered. It is a K5. Maybe its a misshap on the title.? I also google images K10 and some Blazers popped up so I was thinking that maybe it was just like a 3/4 ton K5.

You sure it says K10 and not V10?

*edit* looks like others already answered the mystery.

Saw this picture come across my screen saver, thought of this thread.

Lugnutday.jpg

Back when it was on half tons. He has some cheap ebay aluminum hub centric wheels mounted up. Lugnuts wouldnt stay tight. His wife was driving it home from work. Wheel fell off. Might have a look at the spring bushings in the front, I think they needed replaced after this, and I doubt he ever got around to it.

Hope all is well.

This was an issue when I was in Virginia and the registration coded it as "K10 Pickup" and a cop asked about it during a traffic stop. Explained the nature of the truck and offered to have him match the VIN and he declined and said my explanation was good enough. Someone at the DMV told me that for trucks that old they just differentiated by weight class (1/2 ton, 3/4 ton) because that's how GM did the VINs.

For 81+ rigs the digit after K1 is what designated body. Pickups are K14 and Blazers are K18 and I think burbs are K16. Otherwise they all got the same C/K/R/V followed by the 1, 2, or 3 for payload.

My registration says K1500. My 3 trucks are all listed as "Station Wagon", but I drive them anyway.

Back when I had this '72 Chevelle Nomad station wagon--the doofus at the RMV typed "Chevette" on the registration...no other model identification like "Nomad" ,just "station wagon"..
I registered the car for what it was originally,a '72 Chevelle Nomad Wagon..I wasn't about to tell them it was heavily modified and 4wd now!..

That led to some problems, with the car being on a '69 Suburban chassis and 4wd,a few times I got pulled over, and one time the cop demanded to see just how I registered this "thing"...

When he saw "Chevette" he called in the VIN to the registry, made me sit there a good half hour..everything came back legit, but he insisted the car was a "truck" and should be registered as whatever vehicle the chassis came from..this led to a rather heated discussion..

I asked him "OK,if I had decided not to pull over for you,and you called for back up--what would you say you were pursuing ,a "truck" or a station wagon ?..."Uh--station wagon,I guess"..

I then said "By the way,the chassis its sitting on is a Suburban ,which is also considered a "station wagon"...Case Closed!..
1972 Chevelle Nomad Station Wagon (4x4) 001.jpg
I had a '75 Blazer 2wd that had K5 badges on the fenders ,factory..
I got some remarks from other K5 owners locally saying I put them on it so people would think it was a 4x4...nope..came that way..1975 K5 2WD Blazer.jpg

That truck, and two other K5's I had also had "station wagon" on the registration..a 1971 CST Blazer I had was listed as a "K10 Wideside station wagon" on the registration too...
I guess whatever the RMV employee decides it is,is what it is, around here..:screwy:..
