Hey guys, are there any visual differences in the SF and FF. I'm going to look at a K20 that the kid doesn't know anything about the axles. I'm betting its a 8lug front 44, and a 14bolt, but don't know which one. Are the SF's any weaker or hard to work on? thanks in advance for any help... Taylor

There's tons of info on this if you search. Yes, they look quite different from all angles. Quickest clue it is a FF is the hub protruding through the wheel. There is a page on this site that shows how the differential covers look: http://coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtml

Here is the 14 bolt bible on pirate.
The difference is the SF Use's the axle to transfer torque to the wheels and support the weight of the vehicle.

The Full floater use's the axle itself with a spindle to support the vehicle with hub's and bearings as well. You can remove an axle from a 14 bolt and still Hold the wheel's on , and drive it if the other one is in. With a semi floater you can't.
The full floater is a better axle, and design. Here is way more than I said but yeah hope it help's.
