I'm exploring the idea of shipping my K5 out for this years Blazer Bash instead of towing it.

It's about a 4400 mile trip for me this time. My tow rig gets about 7MPG and I will need to spend at least 4 days driving (each way).....so that's 8 days worth of gasoline, hotels, food, caffeine drinks, etc..... You can see that it's going to be expensive (both in $$$, and vacation time) to tow my own vehicle to Moab and back.

My idea is to pay a transport company to deliver the K5 maybe a week before the event (to play it safe), then I fly out to the closest airport.....wheel and have fun all weekend, and then put it back on the transport for delivery back home.

The trick is that I'm going to need a "friend" in the Moab area that can meet the driver, and provide some temporary storage space for my truck (potentially a week before the event, and a week afterwards?)

I'm curious to know if anybody in the CK5 brotherhood is willing to get involved so that I can make it out for this year's event???? :usaflag:

Loading it up with non-perishables? That's a good idea.

You could expand your delivery point a bit maybe...? Some people in SLC I think if that is not too far of a drive for the Blazer. Large airport also ;)

Moab would be ideal.....SLC is about an hour away IIRC, but as I noted in my original subject line I'm willing to be flexible. A 1-hour drive still beats a 40 hour drive (each way!) :yikes:

Looks like you are already thinking of SLC.

Your idea has stood the test of my limited abilities to critique :p:

SLC is 240 miles, Grand Junction is 115 miles; Farmington (Four Corners) is 180 miles; Denver for that matter is 380 miles. Moab has an airport (Canyonlands CNY), but I'm not sure about regular carriers; Claudia flew in once but United has dropped Moab since then. Looks like all flights to Moab go thru SLC...

Salt lake is more like 4-5 hours Greg, remember?

All the adrenaline made it seem closer than that!!! :D

Maybe you were driving that silver Porsche thingy of yours...

All I remember is there was some nice scenery going through that area. Especially nice when Greg would pull over on the side of the freeway to take pictures :haha:

What's that big white thing bringing up the rear? :D

I could probably meet a driver if it is delivered locally. Storing it wouldn't be a problem either for a short amount of time.

The nearest airport is 15 miles outside of town. (Salmon Air flies out of the airport to GJC or SLC.)

If I can help, let me know.

Well junction would seem to be the logical choice. We are disposed at my mom inlaws until the new house and shop are done but we are on 5 acres and someone is always home....and its easy to find from the highway...exit 24 road north....drive until you hit K road....look to your NW and see the big ass white house on top of the hill with 2 garages behind it. Let me know.

And you just had to move from one coast to another greg.....

I could arrage for something in the Glenwood Springs area and have it driven to GJ to meet you flying in or you could fly into Eagle.

I would look hard at Western Colorado. Closer airports and there are several of us heading that direction.

Let us know. Something can happen in any of the towns it sounds like.

Better a late post than never :o , could we make that TWO blazers to deliver and store?

I realize that two trucks add a whole different dimension but if this could work out I'm coming along too. :D

Kurt,

I was already working that angle.....you need to check your PMs bud! :D

Best quote so far is $995 One-Way.

Plenty of room in my neck of the woods. Easy access for Semi trucks as well.

Just let me know.

let me know what you decide and i will be here to help. no problem.
