Went to do a tune up on my son’s pw50 and found remnants of an air filter, fiberglass plugging up the spark arrestor and silencer, and a bunch of wet oil in the exhaust. New air filter and exhaust ordered and on to the debates of removing the oil pump or adjusting it. Carb was actually clean but went ahead and pulled the jets and blew it out and scrubbed it for peace of mind. Fired up first kick with no choke. Dang thing is loud with no exhaust haha.

This thing is so stupid simple to work on I keep making up reasons to tinker. Today I installed the version of the qt60 gear in the transmission and stiffer clutch springs. The lower gear and stiffer springs should help this thing get up and moving easier.

It’s been running great after the new exhaust and air filter. I went two jets leaner on the primary (from factory 70 to 65) and it really cleaned up the bottom end and made it smoother. Starts up first kick every time. Been trying to get the kids to ride it but it’s been so dang hot that after a few minutes in a helmet and pants they get to hot and go inside.

Last weekend was the State Championship race in Pueblo. It was also the last race of the season. We had a few things on the line, it was the last chance to move up in points, the championship race and also the last race of a 5 race series for an AMA #1 plate. She got it done, she moved from 4th to 3rd for the season points and the podium. We only raced 8 of the 13 races, she won all 8 races. She also won the AMA plate winning all five races and won the championship race. 16 total moto’s, won 13 of them and holeshot all 16 motos. The first time to finish on the podium for the year, we never make enough of the races. Sadly this is probably the last year she will race this much seeings that she graduates this coming year and adulting will be taking over. Glad we got to kick ass this year. We have to wait for the banquet Nov 5th for trophies.

Another amazing weekend of Arenacross racing. Picked up 2-more first places in the women’s class along with a hole shot award. She held her own in the 250c class, the boys do not like to be passed by a girl. This was the most they’ve packed into the Denver arena, it was five lanes of traffic. She rode hard and had it all figured out quickly Saturday except for a step on - step off that she was able to figure out Sunday. Her and her brother started racing Arenacross when they were 7, it was the first type of racing they did. Now ten years later it was probably the last arena cross race for our daughter. A happy yet sad weekend, Arenacross has been good to us.

Today was the Loretta Lynn Area Qualifier, my daughter finished 5th out of 18. The top two women are local pros. The day started out with 4” of snow at our house and luckily by the time we got to the track it was only a dusting. It was miserably cold and windy and only 31 degrees. The four women that finished above her are all A class riders, Kaitlyn is just moving to B class this year. She almost had the hole-shot in the afternoon moto, one of the pros got it at the last second. What a great day!
The only pic I got.
