Then the wheels and rock rings for the H1's came back shortly after. All I had to do was weld the rock rings into the outers, cut the runflats down, and send them for powdercoat.... after mounting a tire on one to get fender trimming measurements from.
Then there was what seemed like an endless wait and my powdercoating buddy brought my wheels back! I threw a pic of the cut down runflats that I found with the wheel pics.
You guys & gals probably noticed the DIY4X tube doors and that a little painting took place. Rather trivial though.
So I figured out that traction was no longer an issue but wheel speed was. Rather than swap to a gas burner, I decided that sticking a turbo on the 6.2 diesel had become a must. I was able to purchase a complete manual 6.5 with a cracked head for $200. No matter about the head. I just wanted this and it's necessary parts.
I fitted the turbo manifold on to find that the injector line nuts just barely touched so I cut out a spacer from some 1/4" steel using a gasket for a template.
Next, I made a "hat" to go on the intake manifold to connect the turbo to instead of swapping manifolds. Pretty straightforward stuff. Got some pipe, a 1/8" fpt bung, rolled some 1/4" aluminum plate & welded for a bit.
The "hat" in this pic is one I built and sold but the end result is the same. The next pic is of the manual waste gate control that I made from the existing one and some hardware store parts. I don't have any pics of the boring stuff like the oil supply, pyrometer, and boost guage hookups but here's a pic of the gauges I put in during the turbo install.
Immediately after the acquisition of a second pair of HID KC's, I went ahead and put those on and decided to add some more adequate reverse lighting after finding it difficult to see when backing up in the woods on a rainy night.
I had gone long enough with my subs gathering dust in the shed and had been putting the installation of my stereo stuff for far too long so I made some kick panel pods, side panels, and got 'r done.
The next venture was set forth with my winning the "DIY4X Dash Giveaway" back in the fall of 2012. Yes, I'm the guy. So came the necessary thrashing. Removed the old dash, test fit, mapped out where the cage would go, all that. I didn't have my own tube bender so I farmed the cage job out only to get disappointed, buy my own bender, some more HREW, redo the front legs of the cage, and add the hoop over the rear fenders like I asked for in the first place. I also added some substantial triangulation and plan to add a another couple "spreaders" near the floor in a future addition. There's a bit of coverage on that on my YouTube channel but was too frustrated still to be snapping pics. Anyway, here ya go.
This isn't the best pic but gives a glimpse of the redo and additional stuff I did to the cage. The following pics show the completed install of the dash and cage.
I just realized that tapatalk is putting little bitty links in place of my pictures. That ain't gonna cut it. If Photobucket isn't screwed up then tapatalk is. SMH...
