dispute over military hummer vs. my truck

How do you steal something as unique as that? It's not like you could hide it if you actually wanted to use it. You'd have to ship it overseas.

I used a hammer and a set of boltcutters. The keys were in it. Its in a crate on a ship right now. I will repaint it and no one will know...

Very, very nice. I wonder how a hummer drivetrain would hold up to 44" boggers?

Well, it have taken a tremendous beating ! Only thing that ever broke is his transfer, after an 8 feet high jump ! :eek1:

The 502 doesn't sound too bad, either..

1) as stated above. the hummer will whip your trucks butt loaded down.
2) the hummer will run all weekend off road on one tank of diesel. you wont come close.

Hummer is much better stock than your truck stock. Have to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. It just ain't fair. gen 1's are one of the best multi use vehicles around, don't forget they aren't horrible on the highway either! Just because yours is better because of specialized work doesnt mean that if that same work were done to the gen 1 it owuldnt be better. In fact since it is mass produced I would say the performance is more than anyone could expect. While a lot of military personal see them as not been too terribly reliable, ya'll put em thru hell (and they should be, its there job). If i had to choose anyone i think id take the gen 1.

What are you talking about? A 1-ton K5 like his, with front and rear lockers, and 39's will beat any stock military hummer out there. Plus, the built 383 makes a TON more power than the wimpy 6.2. I do like H1's, but his question was which is better, an H1 or his specific truck. In pretty much every off-road aspect (except maybe water fording if he doesnt have a snorkel), the blazer will win hands down. Not to mention, K5's are pretty much the limit in width on most of the trails I run. I couldnt imagine trying to squeeze an H1 through there/ :doah:

I was talking pound for pound stock for stock.

If you want to think stock for stock, the Hummer was built for a different purpose entirely. So is that really a fair comparison even?

This thread is great. I would love to see that built hummer follow me through the lots where they use fill dirt to build it up. Can you say, "high centered"? That is without a doubt one of the baddest hummers i've ever seen but it still couldn't beat my truck or yours oneofthefewbmx!!!

1. Sweet sounding truck
2. Stock hummer even with wimpy 6.2 do great offroad,(EJS 2002 went up Potato Salad like it was mole hill) most are 4 seaters and run 37's in stock form.
besides can you mount a .50 cal turret in the center of your roof with out conflicting your passengers?

Or you could build your own 'H1' with all the good parts we all love...

Looks pretty decent for a kit body, 14 guage steel and fg...

Add a little more lift and some 40's and it'd be just about right. :D

Well pound for pound, stock for stock, the Blazer was like $10,000, the Hummer was $100,000. Tough choice! But imagine what a Blazer with $90,000 of upgrades would be like? How's that for a comparison. I'll take the K5. And for that price, maybe 2, or 10.

I would too. For what we use em' for anyway. I just think if I'm being shot at in the middle of the desert I'd wanna be in a gen 1.
Bullets go right through (unless you're lucky enough to get an up-armored one). And HMMVs are slow (up-armored ones are worse). My truck would get me the hell out a lot quicker.

Have you ever sat in a HMMV? It has a very ackward position for the passengers and driver. And it has that lip around the bottom of the door, like a Jeep does, that you have to step over to get in and out. I hate them. I feel very nervous all the time I'm in one because they are not designed to aid you in using your weapon. It makes it clumsy to dismount while under attack, especially fast, or if you have to climb out the other side because of ambush or emergency. I like the Blazers much better.

In a straight off-road only sense, the trail rig wins. But add a crew served weapon, a TOW launcher, 6 guys and rucks, plus ammo. The Humvee wins. Then add the up-armor kit, and the Humvee still wins.

wow, i didnt realize what a great thread this would turn out to be....im pretty sure that "pound for pound, stock for stock" the gen 1 would whoop my ass... but the original dispute was that my friend thought a hummer would take my truck as it sits now (it is a truck, not a k5, sorry for the confusion :doah: ). i think you guys have proved my point, but as stated earlier, i would loose in stock form. thanks for the suppport fellas....by the way that other hummer (the stolen one i guess) was pretty bad ass. nice pics.
