LMAO... I've been there brother.

Well, I had partial success. I switched the wires back to how they should be and now I'm getting 12V at the distributor when the key is in both the start and run positions. Truck still won't start though.
I tried to find TDC for number 1 and time it again, but my mom didn't feel any air coming out of the spark plug hole even though I turned the engine over at least 4 times. I tried going off the harmonic balancer, but wasn't sure which one of the three timing marks to go off of. I got as close as I could, which should be enough to start it, I would think. I know I'm not 180 off, because the distributor hasn't moved that far since it still ran, just enough to play with the base timing. Any ideas or should I just keep trying the timing?

Put a gallon and a half in and it started up. It didn't stay running, but that may have been in part to a partially discharged battery and a disconnected spark plug wire (ok, triple idiot). Feel free to laugh at my expense.

Well, this makes me a double I-should-have-thought-of-that, kick my self in the face idiot. Damn thing was out of gas.Put a gallon and a half in and it started up. It didn't stay running, but that may have been in part to a partially discharged battery and a disconnected spark plug wire (ok, triple idiot). Feel free to laugh at my expense.
Thanks for the help, especially Jon.![]()
