I got a 350 motor and I pulled my distributor out to clean the motor, and now it wont go back in... It goes in, but comes short from being "all the way in" about 1/2 an inch. How do I get it in there? Thanks!

Scan down the page to the post titled "dizzy questions for a 454". Same problem and the answer is in there... :cool1:

You probably didn't put it back in the same spot you pulled it out at... try to take it back out, go over one tooth on the mating gear and drop it in again.

it is such a pain in the a$$ its ure oil pump shaft. get a really long screw driver and move it a tiny bit at a time till it drops down all the way. patence is the way grasshopper :D

and what he said

btw why did u take it out for? that would be a last resort in my book. u can get stuff dropping down the hole, pain in the butt to reinstall, and might knock timing off. little late now though :wink1:

i learned when my mallory died and replaced it with stock. i have the money to fix the mallory now- but im not looking forward to do it....so it sits on my work bench :doah:

when ure done u can do mine :D :D :D

Drop it in about one tooth or so before the #1 line up area, have someone bump the engine slightly to turn the cam gear, it should drop right in, it's not lining up with the oil pump slot, i do this all the time, just be sure after it drops in, to double check that is lined up to where it's supposed to be when installed.
