I know this may be better placed in first-gen section, but I wanted more people to see it.

We ordered one of the engine crossmembers into my son's '72 today for test fitting the whole drivetrain. I can tell you that I am VERY IMPRESSED with how that x-member fit into the frame!!!!! :waytogo::waytogo: I really wish I had one under my fat-block in the '70!! This was my 2nd order to DIY4X, and both times have pleased me!!! I will try to get some pics and post them up, so don't give me too much crap unless i forget to get them!

Kert makes nice stuff... :waytogo:

The only issue I've ever seen is the occasional issue with exhaust headers hitting the frame.

Seems like most guys will add a small spacer between the x-member and the motor mounts and that takes care of it.... Kert may already have a modified design to account for this by now? :dunno:

Header clearance was the only issue I ran iinto. Kert hasn't modified the design for the big block. But he'll change just about anything you can think of to suit your individual needs. He's been super impressive to work with.

I've heard of some headers being an issue. Unfortunately, we just can't test as much as you guys can. Especially on a first gen.

We have on a number of occasions, made the block mounted, 3 bolt brackets a touch taller which can aid in oil pan clearance and header clearance for the big blocks.

We'll always do what we can to customize to your needs. You guys aint all buildin' the same truck so we can't always build the same part. Comes with the territory and we're happy to help.:thumb:

Thanks for the compliments guys! Always appreciated. I'll be sure and pass along the kind words to the guys at the shop.

.

One simple call and you made AJ's and mine. Worked out awesome. IIRC, the max you could go up was 9/16".

You and your guys rock. Thanks for the awesome parts.

I used on of the first gen crossmembers for my S10 build... Dad Kert leave the side brakets off... So the crossmember can work for anything really...

Pics!!!

So I took these when we mocked it up Saturday. The headres are Hedman Elites, #69830. We di not have the plates for the torque convertor struts in behind the motor mounts, but we plan on using them. I don't know how much that would really raise it, but IT DOESN'T MATTER FOR THIS ONE!!!! That made me very happy!!! Unfortunatly, Kert had told me that he was not sure if it would clear the front differential without a lift, and I don't think it will if we fully assemble the truck and drive it over many bumps!!! :doah::doah: My wife had said no to him getting a lift, but apparently I goofed that up! :whistle:Now he wants to call ORD so that we can go get some cool new stuff from across town.
