Dizzle drivers....

I tried a couple different additives when I had the 05 Ram, never noticed a difference in mileage or how the truck felt driving. The only difference I ever saw was when I filled up at a Hess station. I always got 1.5-2 mpg better on their fuel.

I stopped worrying about the switch to ULS after watching a Gale Banks video. He got into the science of it and said the fuel was actually better for the diesels and that they were getting better performance numbers (higher cetane and specific heat)

I think the biggest thing is making sure you get your fuel some place that has clean tanks and sells a lot of diesel so it's always fresh.

the way i figure it, with 190 g's on it, it couldn't hurt to run a few batches thru now, to help the injectors/pump out a bit if they need it.... I definitely don't care about getting better mileage from it.. just want the mill to last as long as possible.... kind of like an occasional seafoam douche in gasser tanks as preventative injector maintenance....

I'm also thinking I may run some of the stiction eliminator in the upcoming oil change.. tho Rog has been pretty religious about every 5000... gonna do it in about 1000 miles or so.....

for those that hadn't seen the rig the question......

That stiction eliminator is some good stuff.. especially for trucks like yours with oil driven injectors.
After I deleted an EGR on my duramax (8-9 years ago) I was expecting my oil to clean up a bit but it was still black after a couple of oil changes so I ran some of that stiction eliminator through it in hopes that it would break up some of the carbon deposits. It did not disappoint. My oil has been golden colored ever since even at 5k intervals.

I bought a gallon of the Standyne winter supplement when I had my TDI Jetta and my 2006 Cummins, never noticed any difference but didn't have any winter fuel issues either. Now I run Power Service but really only because we sell it at work and I can get a discount lol.

We have been using Schaeffer's fuel additive in the trucks at work for years. I tested it in a couple of trucks before we started dosing the main tanks. I saw one test truck increase fuel economy by 1.5% , IIRC. Not a great change, obviously, but we weren't looking for just an economy improvement. Another truck, a Cummins ISM in a mixer, had a consistent fuel stumble at 1100 to 1200 rpm. After 2 weeks or less, it went away. Two years later it needed an injector. We have dramatically reduced the number of fuel injector failures in the trucks and the equipment in the pit. The office has not bothered to check how much fuel we have used versus yards of concrete produced or tons of gravel sold, so no data there.

However you probably can't find their products easily, very few retailers carry it. I get it through a sales representative. I could go on about all of the products that I have tried from them, but i won't.

Something that is proven to deal with water and bacteria is good, but a lubricity addition is important from my perspective.

And I feel that just because some stations move a lot of fuel, doesn't mean that they have great fuel. Oftentimes price and access are what moves fuel sales. Just my thought. Diesel isn't as temperamental as gasoline of course, which is helpful, but I have heard of quality levels affecting fuel economy AND wax levels which contribute to gelling.

I can also tell you of a guy at work who switched his '99 7.3 over to Schaeffer's full synthetic oil recently. He researched online a good bit on some forums before trying it. He now swears by it for how much smoother his truck runs and how much easier it starts when cold. I did have to tell him to check into changing the oil in the high pressure oil pump, which my son found out about while trying to help a friend with his truck. You could look into that as well, from what I understand.
