DJz Blazer

Not sure what I'm doing with my axles at this point so just went out and bought replacement TRE's.

TREs were the very first "mod" I ever did on my '72.... It got rid of a ton of steering slop and I felt like a total hero.

Looks like you're on the right track. Replace the worn out and broken stuff, then drive it!

Took her for her first ride with the windows all rolled up... Moldy..
One hour later...

Got home pulled it into the garage pulled back on the steering wheel for some reason and it came loose..
Figured out where the grinding noise in my column where coming from.
The cage for the lower bearing finally broke.

So... Five hours later done.

I have a feeling that's gona happen to me soon. I have never messed with my column. So Palm Springs that puts you in the middle of Johnson Valley and Ocotillo Wells. Maybe we could hook up some time and wheel around if and when time, work and life all line up.

Drive it!
Looks like you are having fun with it. Good to see.

I'll be daily driven it once I'm done.

Still need to do...

Passenger side bearings, u-joint and brake line.
Divers brake line
Lock Right up front
U-joints in the front shaft
Go through the heater system, this weekend..
Motor, trans, and transfer case mounts
Body mounts
Seal it up better
Install tach
PRP's

Then the real build begins....:pimp:

What is the real build?

Full cage, better suspension, rear tire carrier, steering, frame strength, tool and supply storage, some aluminum panels in the rear interior fender, and so on....

Keeping it as stock looking as possible along the way. Can't really go up in height more that 1 to 2 inches as it won't fit into the garage without airing down. I have some ideas kicking around in my head for some aluminum or stainless boxes for storage and still have room to sleep inside the Blazer. I'd like to get all the crap you see in the picture nicely tucked away so I have plenty of room to still move around in the back. No real plan for a rear seat at this point.

I used one of the headlight ones. I believe they were yellow. Not sure if it is good though, but its worked for a few years. I'm trying to remember if there is a gray wire that goes to a light by the heater controls as well, but not sure as mine was removed.

Thanks.

Going into the dash next. Need to get the heater working and get rid of anymore moldy insulation.
I think I have everything I need including a new heater core.

Anything in there I should know about? It came with AC from the factory, but it's all disconnected with no compressor.
All the replacement parts I bought were for a Blazer with AC.

I have non ac but it did make the job easier to remove the fender, though I think it can be done with the right tools and not removing the fender.

Also, wish I had a gasket set to seal it up better. Something like this for yours:

Thank you. It is tight up in there moving the fender should help.

I pretty much bought every part that was available for the heater. I've learned that most everything I've gotten into on this needs to be replaced.
And when it's some weird non stock part that I have to wait another week to get it from LMC bums me out..
