I've reassembled my hubs, although all I really did was replace the seals. I have everything back on the axle with the disc brake conversion done (other than plumbing). All I did was douse the bearings with some gear oil. It didn't look like the bearings were packed with grease when I first took the hub off.

Is that acceptable? Since the bearings "run wet" anyway? I'm lazy and I don't want to disassemble everything again unless its highly recommended to grease them up.

What happens if you put grease on them...? I realized that it was a wet system after I assembled and sealed.

Thanks for the reply guys. With searching I found so many people saying to use X grease or Y grease... marine grease....etc...etc. Do you have to grease the Dana 60 bearings? Or is that a "wet system" also? Maybe all the posts I saw were related to the front axle?

I would recommend packing them with some sort of wheel bearing grease. It sometimes takes awhile for the gear lube to get to them. Just added insurance.

Or the old - install axles, fill diff, jack up both sides one at a time to let the gear oil flow down to the bearings - trick.
