do 35in tires on 6in lift req fender trimming?

It depends what you want to do as far as off roading. If its a mall crawler then I don't think so, if your going to wheel it you will need to trim a little I think. I have a 8" suspension lift and I did not lower my T case(np208). I'm not sure about the drivelines but I would think they might need to be a bit longer.

Depends on what ya plan on doing with it, if ya plan to wheel it hard yes you will need to trim the fenders but if its a mallcrawler you won't have to. You could run 37's on a 6in lift if ya wanted to with out rubbing on a mall crawler. Ive got 37's on a 4in lift with some slight trimming at the moment but havent got to drive much except around the yard.

Im alittle slow.:doah:

also depends some on the backspacing and width of the wheels too, i have a 4" lift and didn't have to do anything to the fenders when i was running a stock steel wheel, when i switched to a wheel with 3.5" backspacing, 8" wide wheel, it would really tear into the lower rear corner of the fender while turning, and stuffed, now i am back to a 17" wheel, with 5.25" back spacing, i don't think it comes all that close.

i don't know if a 4" lift requires a case drop, but i can tell you i had to drop mine 3/4" on a 2.5-3" lift to get rid of some vibrations i had on the highway. i also ran 35" tires, 8" rims with 4" back spacing and "some" trimming. i needed to trim more after i lost the sway bar too.

The short term plan is to put a mild lift on it... maybe 2in and run 33s. Long term plan is to swap out the 1/2 ton running gear with 1 ton and go with 35in. The front fenders are rusty anyways so I could trim but I also have some nice OEM fenders that I could put on... but I would not trim those.

I have 2 sets of turbine rims... one for 1/2 ton and 1ton that I would use. The 1 ton rims are huge but 16.5s.

I just went down from 37" tires to 35" tires with a 4" lift. Much better now and no fender rubbing. I'm not wheeling yet so can't comment there but it looks much better now. (Found these 35's for $400.....80% tread. Sweet!)

Friends went to Pullman on Saturday.....sounded like the Cougs fell apart in the 2nd half. :doah: Hope they can put something together in the next few years......

That looks really good. I think this is the K5 you had back in the day that you found again.

Did you have to drop the tcase or lengthen the drive lines? What lift kit did you get? Also it is great that you can drive it in the garage.

Big ask... Would you mind measuring the height of your garage door opening? I really would like to park the K5 in the garage after it gets lifted.

You are correct, this is the very truck that use to cruise the streets of Pullman many years ago! Plan to get my wsu sticker on the back soon.....

I measured the top of the truck and it's at about 81-1/2" to 82" tall. My garage is 83" tall so it fits. Strangely, I think I measured 81-1/2" on the 37" tires?!? Maybe the difference is "remaining tread" on each set of tires.

Anyways, the blazer with the 4" lift fits in two garage spaces (two houses) and also my work parking garage. Can't believe it really.

As far as the lift, I don't know a whole lot about it. 4" was figured by measuring a stock blazer I found from the axle hub to the bottom lip of the fender. Mine measured 4" more so that's why I assume 4" lift.

I doubt the driveline was lengthened or any transfer case drop was done. I do get a little vibration and it may be from the driveline angle. I do know the kid before put in new u-joints so obviously, the lift and tires are not too kind in those areas for wear.

I have no idea on the brand name either (for the lift). But I do know it's a LOT bouncier than stock. It may be just the springs.....I don't know. Perhaps softride springs would help. I'm still debating about going down to 33's and a 2-1/2" lift. But for now, at least I can turn into driveways without the 37" tires rubbing the fenders.

The BFG's are great tires too. Definitely recommend.

Good luck!

I've never had to trim a fender to clear 35's with a 6" lift In fact I preffer to run a 4" with 35's and only ever rub the rear corner under full stuff offroad and thats with brand new tires my old Big O XT's didn't rub at all.

I've ran a half assed drop for my tcase the last two years (previous owner used nuts as spacers) I pulled them off when I put in my new tranny and now I feel a slight vibe off the line but it's fine at speed.

As for drivelines...All depends on the rig on my 78 with a 6" I only had to lengthen the front. My Current (76) had both lengthened.

I have a K5 with a six inch lift and 35's, tires hit the fender when wheeling. Its fine on the street, it fits in my garage but barely. I also have a K5 with a four inch lift and 33's, they also hit when wheeling.

here are brand new 35's at full pressure and no rubbing at all and these actually measure 35.7" new BFG's come in at 34.7"

Hi Jeff- Thank you for taking the measurments. My k5 on bald stock tires and tired stock springs is at 71 inches. My garage also is at 83 inches. I'm considering the lift and tire size to purchase so this info is very helpfull. I'm also going to go with BFGs. I would not have tought that 35in and 4in lift could have fit in our garages. I like the way you K5 sits. The more I think about it I may go with 35 and a 4in lift.

My new Jimmy is a 6" lift, I haven't flexed it yet but its obvious that some rubbing has occured. It has 35" tires.

My springs are Superlifts, my buddy has some BDS springs and some 36s and I don't think he has trimmed at all. His are 6" too but his are newer than mine.
