Dismantling the front is very straightforward and simple.

this is gona go south here soon. he will have some ford parts and prob dodge also to throw in the mix.

is it me or is he getting in over his head ?

i think someone should have used his computer a lot more and also the SEARCH button.

but this is all good . makes for a fun movie. i got popcorn do you ? shhhh the movies startin.

anywaysss. Pass side lockout would NOT come out. Got a sheetmetal hammer thing. Like a wieght on a rod basically, and hammered it out. Turns out there was a tiny nick in the hub.

after that it was easy.
Old ****s out and now I just have to wait for car quest to open so I can get my crush sleeve, they ordered it overnight for me since summit didn't send one. But yea. Not as bad as I thought so far, and then my dad is going to teach me how to set them up and then everything goes back together.

I'm calling it quits for tonight.. I got up at 3:30his morning, gotta love the morning crew.

Thanks for all the uh... Confidence? Haha.
And for the help getting the axles out. I almost started pulling knuckles but I figured you guys have done this 14 billion times so it was worth asking.

and I was totally clueless about pulling the front end apart. Kind of embarrasing.. But it's apart now so no biggie.

It's a gm10 bolt open carrier. I'm diving straight in. Gonna learn how to set up gears with the old man and I have no idea what to do I want it un assembled and ready when he gets here in the morning.

FYI, you can get solid shims for a 10 bolt pinion. I prefer these to a crush sleeve...Just my opinion...carry on...linky

you need to crush the sleeve with a breaker bar and somthing holding the yoke still. using an impact gun can and will harm the pinion bearings. they dont like getting beat like that.
on bigger axles with larger pinion bearings you can get away with it. but not on a 10 bolt or smaller.

It it's your first time, it's a good idea to have more than one crush sleeve available - or the shim kit.
