Do I need new wheel studs - disc brake swap ?

I use an impact and a lug nut to pull the studs in.

Just because it has worked for you in the past doesn't mean it will never fail. If you exceed the yield strength of the steel, it will fail sometime in the near future.

Using a press is the right way to install wheel studs.

If you are drawing the studs in with a wrench or impact you are either not seating them tight enough or you are over stressing the studs (and ruining them, making them unsafe).

The ends don't justify the means, ya know :D

To each his own. I've used that method hundreds of times, and I dont remember ever having one of the studs break. I'd like to know what the "yeild strength" of a 1/2" wheel stud is. I'm sure it's much stronger than the 18 volt snap-on cordless impact I used to install the longer studs in my burb.

still having major problems with this. Went to les schawb to get new wheel studs. dude there said he does not think they make wheel studs that will work for this. He said i would need a double taper wheel stud. The hole in the rotor is slightly larger than the whole on the axle shaft flange. The wheel stud would be slightly loose on the rotor. I will try to get some pics to show.

Has anyone done a disc brake swap on a 14 bolt semi float that can help me out?

I am lost, frusterated, and on my way to getting drunk cause I am so f**king stressed. I have a house kit showing up friday and need to have this done.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
