Do I really need the banjo bolts?

If my new braided brake lines have the fitting to work directly, do I need to use the banjo bolts?

Not sure i understand what you mean. Banjo bolts are a requirement in order to get brake fluid to the caliper.

yes, you could have lines with male threads on one end and female on the other. the male end would connect to the caliper and the female to the hard line at the frame. but you will have to hook the caliper end up first. are your brakes leaking or something? the banjo bolt allows the line to make a 90 and clear the wheels.

if the lines have the proper fittings you don't need banjo bolts. there were numerous cars in the 60's and early 70's when they 1st went to disc brakes that used a threaded end into the calipers.

That's it. Caddy calipers and plenty of room. The lines will thread directly in, so I couldn't figure out why I needed banjo setup.

I dont know, are the bolts on your banjo broken? :D:haha::haha:sorry, could not resist the temptation.

Banjo bolts seal the fluid with copper gaskets on either side of the banjo fitting. Bolts don't have a tapered thread like npt fittings so they have no reliable method of preventing fluid leaks. You can however use adapter fittings that screw in to the bolt thread of the caliper and use a copper gasket for sealing and then allow the use of flare fittings on the end of the hose.
